Sea cruises, as a new form of tourism affect a tourist destination on a number of levels. This paper looks into the influence of sea cruises on a tourist destination through the social and economic segment, as well as through the segment of its effect on the environment. It especially researches the positive and negative effects of sea cruises on a tourist destination and evaluates possible consequences. By emphasizing the expansion of sea cruises, while at the same time being aware of their influence on a tourist destination, the paper emphasizes the importance of adapting to the tourism development strategy and to elements of sustainable development in order to painlessly assimilate this form of tourism in a tourist destination.
