Elementary reliability is defined as complex probability consisting of the probability of working conditions and the probability of concrete destruction for those conditions. For desired reliability, construction parameters of the components is being determined (gears, bearings, etc.), for the gearbox in various driving conditions of freight motor vehicles, in which six-speed manual gearbox has been installed. Statistical indicators of working conditions (use of appropriate gears and loading spectra for each of them) were determined by experimental measurement on the vehicle FAP 1620 in selected conditions. Interviewing the drivers and users has enabled deriving proper statistical evaluation. Based on the spectra of working and critical states, reliability of components of gearbox is determined using analytical method according specially developed model. In the inverse approach, carrying capacity of the components and system are determined according given reliability. For this purpose, direct and inverse version, a model and software for the calculation of reliability, constructional parameters and carrying capacity of gearboxes has been developed. Program is made to the software package Visual Basic 6, and it enables interactive communication and variation of the input data and obtaining optimal output values. Moreover, the obtained construction parameters are robust, i.e. insensitive to the variation of working conditions, because of using of reliability, as a statistical value, possible variation of working conditions and critical states of the components of gearboxes have been included.- Razvijene procedure u ovom radu zasnivaju se na korišćenju pouzdanosti mašinskog sistema i komponenata kao granični uslov za određivanje konstrukcijskih i drugih parametara, kao svojstvo komponenata i kao pokazatelj kvaliteta sistema. Osim toga dobijeni konstrukcijski parametri su robustni tj. neosjetljivi na varijaciju uslova rada jer su zahvaljujući korišćenju pouzdanosti kao statističke veličine, obuhvaćene moguće varijacije uslova rada i kritičnih stanja komponenata prenosnika.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
