Provider: - Institution: - Data provided by Europeana Collections- Jože Zupanc, v zadnji vrsti tretji z desne, je služil starojugoslovansko vojsko od 17. 9. 1939 do 17. 6. 1940 v Bohinjski Beli in na Rudnem polju na Pokljuki.Nekaj tednov pred napadom na Kraljevino Jugoslavijo vpoklican na vojaško vajo, ki je trajala od 12. marca do 13. aprila 1941. Ob razpadu kraljeve vojske so se vojaki napotili proti domu. Skupaj z drugimi vojaki je Jožeta v Zidanem mostu zajela nemška vojska in vse odpeljala na lokacijo sedanje vojašnice na Mariborski cesti. Jožetu so sorodniku uspeli pretihotapiti civilno obleko, ki mu je ob slabem varovanju in veliki množici ujetnikov v vojaških in civilnih oblačilih omogočila pobeg. Kot mizar se je nato 22. aprila 1941 zaposlil pri obrtniku Antonu Speglitschu in s tem je bil od 30. julija 1941 vpisan v »registru« vojnih obveznikov. V nemško vojsko je bil prisilno mobiliziran od 23. junija 1943 do 24. decembra 1944.
