  • Prediction model of ultraviolet protection factor for light summer cotton woven fabrics [Elektronski vir]

    Textile material can be a very simple and convenient barrier against ultraviolet rays and can offer suitable or even excellent ultraviolet protection enhanced by dye, pigment, delustrant, UV ... absorbers as well as by its construction. Fabric construction presents the simplest and the cheapest solution to achieve good UV protection without additional finishing processes and costs. To assign the degree of UV radiation protection of textile materials the UltravioletProtectionFactor (UPF) is commonly in use, which is the measure of UV radiation (UVA and UVB) blocked by the textile material. Theproposed paper reports the results of research focused on the developing ofultraviolet protection factor prediction model of light summer cotton clothson the basis of woven fabric constructional parameters (warp density, weft density, weave factor) and colour components (L*, a*, b*) by means of genetic programming. The proposed model provides guidelines for engineering woven cotton fabrics to fit desired UV protection.
