    Recession in economy doesn't have to be all about negative economic results, but can be thought as an opportunity to carry out a thorough analysis of system's operation. According to energy saving ... and environmental protection trends many new solutions can be found for today's existing production issues, search for production availabilities, system reserves etc. The time of production stagnation can be used to thoroughly analyze system operation and carry out actions to achieve more efficient production, better resource handling or product quality (added value), higher safety etc. The paper presents brief overview of modern software techniques and tools to assist operator in making decisions and actions, to achieve more efficient production cycle. With the use of process models, analyzes, and other professional tools, an engineering knowledge can be quickly employed for design of advanced decision strategies in process industry, therefore classic development tools can be avoided, which is demonstrated on laboratory pilot model.
