  • Unkrautbekämpfung in Analagen der Heilpflanze Tuerkischen Mohn (Papaver bracteatum Lindl.) mit einigen Herbiziden
    Maček, Jože, 1929-
Papaver bracteatum is an official plant originating from Near-east.. In the last years it is more and more cultivated for the production of thebaine drug. It is a perennial plant, its life cycle is ... uncommon for middle-european conditions. After the maturation of capsules in late July the plants die back and they started growing again in late September. From the view of weed control it means, that the soil surface is nearly clear for at least two months in the high vegetation season. Therefore the weed control in Turkish poppy is considered the most important cultural measure. We have been performing field trials with several herbicides for some years and didn't get any completely satisfactory results. Good weed control is possible only with very high doses (10-20 kg/ha) of simazine. Such a simazine concentration in soil could endanger the rootstock of the cultivated plants. The application of glyphosate after the dieback of poppy plants in summer seems a better solution. But the maturation and dying back of plants is not regulary and for glyphosate it is well known that the transportation of active ingredient in the rootstock readily occurs through maturing. Therefore the application of glyphosate is not without risk.
