  • Problems of the economic transition in Slovenia

    The article deals with economic developments in Slovenia after its independence in June 1991. The following sectors are analyzed: the real sector (GDP and expenditure on GDP, production, the ... structure of ownership and the size of firms, employment and unemployment, enterprises losses, inflation and pricing policies, personal incomes), public finance (fiscal reform, public sector revenue and expenditure, public debt), the monetary and banking sector (monetary reform and monetary policies, banking sector structure and operation) and the external sector (the foreign exchange system, trade regime, balance of payments, regional structure of exports and imports of goods, external debt). The final part is the discussion about the development prospects of Slovenia. It is pointed out that the recovery is subject to transition towards full market economy which require further reforms of economic system and economic policy.
