    To mix solutions at micro-scale is a difficult task. Under typical operating conditions flows in these channels are laminar. The absence of turbulent flowsand slow diffusion process are the main ... challenges in order to achieve mixing. By applying the oblique grooves to the bottom of the microchannel, thefluid transports from the apex of the groove structure to the downstream edges of the microchannel. In this paper, a Staggered Herringbone Mixer (SHM) groove geometry was optimized through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The optimization was performed by considering the performances of electrical discharge micro milling (EDMM) machining process that will be used to fabricate the micromixer. As the result, the optimal micromixer designed for EDMM is much shorter than the micromixer optimised for lithography manufacturing process.
