    The purpose of this master thesis is to study the aerodynamic behaviour of an innovative nozzle for hair dryers and to propose improvements. To carry on the analysis we used the hot wire anemometer ... as the method for measuring local air velocities in turbulent flows. In the first part, the calibration procedure, air flow velocity measurements of a common nozzle for hair dryers, air flow velocity and angle of velocity measurements of the innovative nozzle are presented. The setup consisted of a constant temperature hot-wire anemometer and data acquisition system. In a second stage results are compared at the different operational points. We described the trend of air flow velocity all along the slots of the nozzle to provide an overview of the aerodynamic characteristics of the device. Besides, a comparison with results obtained with flow visualization as an alternative method for measuring air velocity is performed. Finally the nozzle is experimentally tested with a hair dryer. Measured data is analysed and used to suggest changes to the existing nozzle design. The results of the experiment will reveal that the nozzle does not offer good aerodynamic characteristics so drying time is longer. We recommend further modification of the nozzle design.
