Persimmon - a perspective fruit species for litoral part of SloveniaFajt, Nikita ...In Slovenia persimmon has optimal soil and climatic conditions for growing only on its south-west part where we have 25 ha of intensive orchards. the most orchards are in Slovenian Istria (57%), ... Goriška and Vipavska region (37%) and in Goriška Brda (6%). Persimmon is a species that in our climate does not need any special technological measures. At the same time the fruits contain high level of vitamins and a good mineral composition with low protein and fat content. Therefore our opinion is that it is a perspective fruit species which has good chances for further spreading in Slovenian coastal region. The most widespread cultivar in intensive orchards is 'Kaki Tipo' (95%), followed by cultivars of minor shares like 'Hachiya', 'Fuji', 'Hana Fuyu' and 'Fuyu'. In last 20 years in Goriška region 12 varieties from different group according to astringency at harvest time were tested: 'Fuji' and Hachiya' from group PCA (Pollination Constnat Astringent), 'O Gosho', 'Fuyu', 'Jiro', 'Jiro C-24276' and 'Hana Fuyu' from group PCNA (Pollination Constant Non Astringent), 'Tone Wase' from group PVA (Pollination Variant Astringent), and 'Kaki Tipo', 'Thiene', 'Kuru Kuma' and 'Amankaki' from group PVNA (Pollination Variant Non Astringent). In Slovenian Istria also varieties from group PCNA and PCA were tested. According to data from 2002-2005 on location Bilje the most fruitful cultivars were 'Kaki Tipo', 'Amankaki', 'Cal Fuyu' and 'Thiene', which had yield over 25 kg/tree. The highest weight of fruits had variety 'Hana Fuyu' (312.3 g) and the highest soluble solids content had variety 'Tone Wase' (18.9%). Cultivar 'Tone Wase' had also the best pomological properties. Good pomological properties also had varieties 'Kaki Tipo', 'Thiene' and 'Amankaki'.
