  • Method for detecting local fault in gears

    The effects that various defects of a single-stage gear-unit have upon the vibrations they produce are dealt with. Different methds are used to analyse time signals acquired through experiments. ... Thus, fatgue crack in the tooth root causes significant changes in tooth stifness. This leads to a dynamic response which differs from the one caused by an undamaged tooth. By means of frequency analysis, amplitudes of time signal are presented as a function of frequencies in a spectrum. Frequency analysis has been performed on the basis of Fourier Tranformation and Time-Frequency Analysis; this requires that a time signal is sampled in equal intervals during the measured period.
