  • Temeljna načela krvodajalstva kot osnova za preskrbo z varno krvjo = Fundamental principles of blood donations as basis for safe blood supply
    Slabe, Damjan, 1965-
Blood supply is closely linked with the health of blood donors. Blood donations in Slovenia are - like in many other European countries and other countries in the world (in some of them also the ... transfusion) - organised within the Red Cross and are based on the principles of non-remuneration, voluntarism and anonymity. It is characteristically for Slovenia that the activities aimed at motivating blood donors and organising blood drives are implemented by the Slovenian Red Cross (1), while the task of the transfusion service is to supply patients with safe blood. The author proves the thesis that the principle of solidarity may be a good base (but not the only one) forthe supply with safe blood. The model of motivating blood donors which is based on the principle of solidarity possesses several advantages in comparison with the model which advocates the blood supply on the market. Slovenia is still in the period of transition from the mass to individual blood donations. This means that beside a personal approach to motivate and invite blood donors, health awareness of potential blood donors should not be forgotten, too. Only a healthy blood donor can be the first and fundamental condition for safe blood supply.
