  • Vloga medicinske sestre v timski obravnavi bolnika z nevrološko boleznijo = The role of nurse in team treatment of neurologic patient
    Medvešček-Smrekar, Maja
Neurologic patients have various brain damages and therefore have to be treated and rehabilitated by entire health team which, besides physician specialist and nursing team, includes also ... physiotherapist, work therapeut, speech therapist, psychologist and social worker. Their collaboration is not only wished for, but is of key importance. Good collaboration is obtained by constant mutual communication (team meetings). The role of nurse is defined for patients with cerebrovascular diseases, including also stroke. These diseases are most frequent of all neurologic diseases in adults and neurological problems in such patients are most varied. Owing to the complexity and and extensiveness of their problems, these patients show also many nursing problems (unability of self-care, difficulties with movement and walk, difficulties with bladder and bowel emptying, decubitus, impeded expressing of emotions and communicating, impeded nourishing). Entire health team is striving to achieve common aim, i.e. to obtain an optimal capacity of self-care, thus also of independence at performing of daily activities of the patient/protegee.
