  • Vpliv spremljajočih bolezni na uspeh zdravljenja bolnikov z rakom ustne votline = Impact of comorbidity on treatment success of patients with oral cavity carcinoma
Matos, Aleš ; Žargi, Miha, 1946-
Studies performed in recent years have shown, comorbidity has an impact on treatment outcome and survival of patients with head and neck carcinoma. Cardiovascular, pulmonary and neurologic diseases ... are known to have the most unfavorable influence. We studied the influence of comorbidity on 5-year survival of patients with oral cavity carcinoma that were surgically treated on Clinic for Otorinolaryngology and Cervicofacial surgery in Ljubljana in theperiod from 1.1.1994 to 1.1.1999. In contrast to some other studies, our study did not confirm statistically significant correlation between 5-year survival and number of accompanied diseases. There was no statistically significant correlation between 5-year survival and hematocrit rate or ASA index as well.
