    In addition to occupational diseases, work-related accidents represent the most important negative indicators of worker health. They reflect the situation of occupational health and safety in the ... country, and help us plan preventive activities for improving this situation. The paper deals with occupational injuries that occurred in the Gradis Construction Company, Ljubljana, during the period 1996 - 2000. It analyses the reasons for work-related accidents and identifies the factors influencing them. The pathology of workplace injuries is evaluated, and the measures for reducing them are proposed The data on workplace accidents were retrieved from datahases of the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia and ofthe Gradis Construction Company, Ljubljana. The data were processed using the SPSS programme for Windows 8.0 and Excel. The rate of occupational injuries for the five year period studied was 53.6 per 1000 employees, which exceeds the figures for Slovenia for the same period. The average length of absence from work per one occupational injury was 46 working days. Among 130 persons injured there were only two women. Work-related injuries occurred mostfrequently in persons aged 46 to 50 years. In terms of days of the week and months of the year, the rate of occupational injury was highest for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and for November and June. The most commonly injured parts of the hody were hands and fingers. The majority of injuries were produced by blows delivered by various objects and tools (e.ga hammer), and by objects dropped from a height.
