While introducing workplace health promotion into enterprises management co-operation should be the first priority. In foreign literature, numerous articles state that management co-operation and ... support are essential for the success of workplace health promotion programmes. The managers' attitude towards workplace health promotion and their readiness for eo-operation depends a great deal on the managers' attitude towards health their own healthas well as the health of their employees. Since there were no relevant data on the Slovenian managers' attitude towards health and workplace health promotion, a survey of Slovenian managers was conducted within the framework of Fit for work programme in the spring of 2005. The results will be used as guidelines for designing educational modules of the Phare project - Lifelong education for healthy work and life and its implementation. This article has two purposes: to present a review of articles on the managers' attitudes towards health and their relation to workplace health promotion as found in difjerent sources; and to present the results of a survey carried out among Slovenian managers. The questionnaire which was posted to managers consisted of questions regarding the managers' attitude towards health, their relation to their health and the health of their employees, their attitude towards health promotion, and their readiness to introduce health promotion programmesinto their enterprises.
