  • Pomanjkljivosti in nove možnosti zdravljenja angine pektoris = Shortcomings and new perspectives in the treatment of angina pectoris
    Zupan, Igor, 1961-
Stable angina (AP) is a common and disabling disorder that is prevalent in 30.000 to 40.000 per one million population. It persists in many patients despite currently available therapies, including ... revascularisation. Despite these advances, there remain important unmet medical needs in the treatment ofAP. A substantial proportion of patients who are on medicat therapy still experience anginal symptoms. This condition has been named refractory angina pectoris. Current medical therapy has shortcomings, mainly related to insufficient efficacy, lack of hemodynamic tolerance and side effects. Comorbidities and medication tolerability must be considered in the selection of therapy. There is currently little proof of a direct impact of anti-ischemic therapy on clinical outcomes in the context of stable angina. The heart rate seems to be major determinant of myocardial oxygen demand and has shown a strong link with CV morbidity. More studies are needed to explore the impact of antianginal therapies on outcomes in the revascularisation era.
