  • Continuous casting of steel billets: study of the casting and cooling conditions = Kontinuirano litje jeklenih gredic: študija pogoja litja in hlajenja

    A plane (two dimension) mathematical model of heat and mass transfer has been development and in the praxis applied to predict the temperature field and liquid pol profiles of radially continuously ... cast steel billets under variety of casting and cooling conditions. In the frame of the presented investigationproject the study of effect of cooling rate and castig speed has been done. Between the billet surface and the cooling media (air, water) the mechanism of heat convection and radiating have been considered. The testing material was a carbon steel of Ck 45. The numerical calculations have been carried out with the finite difference method for different square crosssection areas of the steel billet between 140 x 140 and 220 x 200 mm. Th enumerical results have been in the praxis confirmed by an extensive industetrial temperature measurement on the radial continuous casting system.
