  • Konusno sidranje implantatno podprte proteze : prikaz primera = Implant-supported dentures retained by conical crowns : a case report
Jevnikar, Peter, 1965- ; Funduk, Nenad
Implant-supported overdentures are used increasingly in the prosthetic rehabilitation of severely atrophic edentulous mandibles. The pattern of transfer and distribution of masticatory forces depends ... on the number of implants, their location in the alveolar ridge, and the type of retention chosen. In this paper, a system is described where the retention of the implant supported overdenture is based on the principle of conical crowns. This type of retention has been routinely used in conventional prosthodontics for decades, but it is a relatively novel concept in the rehabilitation of edentulous patients. The system consists of prefabricated pri mary and secondary conical crowns, which guarantee a predictable treatment outcome. In addition, the implant-abutment connection is characterised by 360 degrees of rotational freedom. ln this way, primary crowns can be chosen without any additional grinding. In the proposed protocol, laser welding, currently the standard method of joining a secondary crown to the metal suprastructure, has been replaced by intraoral luting, which makes it easier to achieve passive fit. The paper presents the main clinical and laboratory procedures used in manufacturing implant-supported overdentures retained by conical crowns.
