  • Manipulacijske tehnike pri zdravljenju bolečine na gibalnem sistemu
    Turk, Zmago
Author reviews and discusses techniques of manipulation therapies in the world. Techniques of manipulation therapies are manual medicine, chiropractic, osteopathy. Differences between these ... techniques are based on educational approaches used. Chiropractic therapists have a specific education and do not have medical degree. Manual therapy is practised by medical doctors. Education system of osteopathy was developed in United States and Canada, and is organised as a postgraduate degree after medical degree. European school of manual medicine was developed in Great Britain by James Cyriax and in Czech Republic by Karel Lewit. Manual medicine is devided into manual diagnostic and manual therapy. Manual medicine is based on a theory, where each structural change cause also a functional change. When structural change (pathology) is treated, the function is treated as well. Block of joint or dynamic segment represents structural reposition of individual segments. Accurate history and clinical examination are crucial for manual medicine. Using these two parameters, exact osteopathy approach is applied. Contraindications for manual medicine are osteoporosis, neoplasms, chronic disease and spondylosthesis. Accurate diagnosis of subject physical health need to be established first, before performing manipulative techniques. Author recommends a module of manual medicine as a curriculum for medical doctors, specialised in physical rehabilitation, orthopaedic medicine and neurology. Scientific data regarding manual medicine are published and collected in Cochrane and Pedro systems. Most of the systematic reviews conclusions are not scientifically based and therefore it is important to conduct randomised control trials to find a scientific evidence of manual medicine benefits.
