    Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder which affects 1% of the population.Neuroleptics efficiently reduce the frequency of relapses but for various reasons almost on ehalf of patients does not ... receive all possible benefits that appropriate treatment could offer. Education programs may improve patients' compliance with treatment. The authors review current literature on the importance of education to patients with schizophrenia and present mai education methods, program and topics. Special emphasis is given to group approach (interactive work in small groups), which reduces the socialwithdrawal of patients and enhances the exchange of experiences among relatives.
