    Drawing on results from the 28 nation study of civic education conducted by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), the author reflects on what can be ... learned about 14-year old students' knowledge, attitudes, and experiences in the United States. After describing the context of civic education in the country, the author discusses the US findings in terms of 1) international comparisons, 2) class and race/ethnicity differences 3) gender differences, 4) democratic dissent, debate, and discussion, and 5) global awareness.
