  • The impact of technical media on music consumption and preferences in the young

    The development of sound media has made music available everywhere and has even caused the supersaturation of the environment with it. The selection of the best that the entertainment industry has to ... offer is intertwined with social and business components in the case of pop music. The young, especially females, spend most time listening to music, which is often a stimulant for relaxation and entertainment and provides a background for study or doing homework. The findings of the survey of the Maribor eighth graders reveals that the majority prefer foreign popular music, while the interest in Slovene popular music is very weak. They are not good at distinguishing various styles in pop music, while the most appealing lyrics are the humorous ones. If our schools' objective is to move closer to the young and their interests they should integrate theoretical and practical elements of popular music into their teaching
