Abstract
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) becomes one of the essential tools during the COVID pandemic. The heart of the PCR is a thermal cycler. The thermal cycler is a temperature cycle instrument ...that changes and maintains the vial sample’s temperature at a specific target temperature. A simple thermal cycler can be made using thermoelectric as the heater and cooler to control the temperature state. The thermal block temperature distribution is important to make all the vials treated at the same temperature condition. The thermal distribution of an aluminum block as the thermal block for a portable PCR was calculated using the finite element method. The heat source and cooler with a power of 60W were placed at the bottom of the aluminum block. The temperature gradient inside the aluminum body, where the vial was placed, was calculated. The heating and cooling speed were calculated using the model. It was found that the temperature difference between the bottom surface and top surface of the aluminum block is 2.5°C during the transient time. The temperature distribution in a horizontal direction is homogenous, with a temperature difference among the surface being less than 0.01°C. The time required to heating from 24°C to 95°C is 31.05 seconds while cooling from 95°C to 55°C can be reached in 18.05 seconds.
Abstract
The Zinc oxide is well known as a direct wide bandgap semiconductor material with many promising properties for blue/UV optoelectronics, transparent electronics, spintronic devices and ...sensor applications. Controllable bandgap tuning is important to widen its possible applications. In the present work, we applied density functional theory to study bandgap tuning of ZnO by introducing Na atom and Cl atom. Sodium acts as p-type doping, while chlorine acts as n-type doping for ZnO. The effect of Na and Cl doping in the study was calculated using the Density Functional Theory (DFT) method. The results indicate that ZnO, which is a natural n type semiconductor when doped with p type, has an increase in bandgap, on the contrary, doping with n type decreased its bandgap

MACS0647–JD is a triply lensed
z
∼ 11 galaxy originally discovered with the Hubble Space Telescope. The three lensed images are magnified by factors of ∼8, 5, and 2 to AB mag 25.1, 25.6, and ...26.6 at 3.5

z
> 10 with JWST. Here, we report new JWST imaging that clearly resolves MACS0647–JD as having two components that are either merging galaxies or stellar complexes within a single galaxy. The brighter larger component “A” is intrinsically very blue (
β
∼ −2.6 ± 0.1), likely due to very recent star formation and no dust, and is spatially extended with an effective radius ∼70 ± 24 pc. The smaller component “B” (

pc) appears redder (
β
∼ −2 ± 0.2), likely because it is older (100–200 Myr) with mild dust extinction (
A
V
∼ 0.1 mag). With an estimated stellar mass ratio of roughly 2:1 and physical projected separation ∼400 pc, we may be witnessing a galaxy merger 430 million years after the Big Bang. We identify galaxies with similar colors in a high-redshift simulation, finding their star formation histories to be dissimilar, which is also suggested by the spectral energy distribution fitting, suggesting they formed further apart. We also identify a candidate companion galaxy “C” ∼3 kpc away, likely destined to merge with A and B. Upcoming JWST Near Infrared Spectrograph observations planned for 2023 January will deliver spectroscopic redshifts and more physical properties for these tiny magnified distant galaxies observed in the early universe.

This paper investigates the energy spectrum of a periodic one-dimensional Coulomb potential. The Schrödinger equation is solved numerically by our newly developed filter method (
Phys. Rev E
...96(3), 033302 (2017)). We observe that the energy spectrum can be obtained with a limited number of lattice. The results show the presence of an energy band structure as a function of lattice width and edge width. The comparison with the other potential model is also discussed.

Abstract
Thermal Cycler is the main part of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), which becoming a gold standard for Covid-19 diagnosis. The virus multiplication in an order to a detectable ...concentration is done by placing the virus solution at a deterministic temperature cycle. The solution is placed in a small tube inserted in a temperature block. Temperature distribution of the thermal block is important to make all the tube with sample treated at the same at desired target temperature. Study on the thermal block made of aluminium 7075 was simulated using fluid dynamic finite element method. Heating and colling to the target temperature was done by providing heat source and heat absorber. The temperature distribution on the surface was mapped. The temperature gradient perpendicular to the heat source was calculated. Assuming the environment of the thermal block was still air, the heating and cooling speed at given heat source and heat removal were calculated using the model. The temperature gradient from the top surface to the bottom surface is less than 2.5°C. The temperature difference among point at the surface is less than 0.1°C.
Two dimensional materials with honeycomb lattice have attracted researcher's attention owing to their several superior properties. Silicene which is the most compatible 2D materials with ...silicon-based nano-electronic industry. Density functional theory was performed to investigate optical properties of silicene doped with Boron Nitride. With the addition of Boron Nitrid (BN), the refractive index value of silicene decreases with the highest value achieved in the position of bridges with a value of 1.783, and reaches the peak at lower energy.
Computational studies of silicene, which is a two-dimensional silicon material with honeycomb structure, has been carried out using Density Functional Theory Calculation. This study was aimed to ...determine the effects of doping gallium (Ga) atom and arsenic (As) atom on the magnetic properties of hydrogenated silicene. The results showed that pure silicene has very small magnetic properties, can be considered as non-magnetic. The process of hydrogenation on silicene changes it to become a magnetic material. The effects of Ga/As dopant on the magnetic properties of hydrogenated silicene depends on positions of Ga/As atom. Silicene with As atom at hollow site has the highest magnetic moment of 0.0592 μB. This value increases from the magnetic moment of hydrogenated silicene magnet by 104%.
Abstract
Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) is a high sensitivity piezoelectric sensor that enables it to detect loads in the nanogram order. QCM usually consists of a thin quartz plate with an AT-cut ...orientation. The sensor resonance frequency and its stability are affected by the sensor parameter and its placement in the reaction cell. Previous studies have shown that the physical parameters and geometric shapes of the QCM sensor greatly affected the sensitivity and stability of the sensor. As the sensor is thin, only in the order of hundredths micrometer, pressure, or force on top of the sensor surface also affects the sensor resonance frequency. In this study, we conducted a deformation analysis due to the placement of QCM on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The simulation is done by Finite Element Method using ANSYS 19.2. Variations in the shape of the electrodes on the PCB and O-ring elastic modulus that used in the QCM system has been investigated O-rings that have a smaller elastic modulus that will cause greater deformation. From the two types of PCB electrodes, electrodes in the form of ¾ circular arcs give smaller deformations than electrodes in the form of ½ circular arcs. The deformation occurs in the order of 10
