Salinity in soil or irrigation water requires developing genetically salt-tolerant genotypes, especially in arid regions. Developing salt-tolerant and high-yielding wheat genotypes has become more ...urgent in particular with continuing global population growth and abrupt climate changes. The current study aimed at investigating the genetic variability of new breeding lines in three advanced generations F6–F8 under salinity stress. The evaluated advanced lines were derived through accurate pedigree selection under actual saline field conditions (7.74 dS/m) and using saline water in irrigation (8.35 dS/m). Ninety-four F6 lines were evaluated in 2017–2018 and reduced by selection to thirty-seven F7 lines in 2018–2019 and afterward to thirty-four F8 lines in 2019–2020 based on grain yield and related traits compared with adopted check cultivars. Significant genetic variability was detected for all evaluated agronomic traits across generations in the salt-stressed field. The elite F8 breeding lines displayed higher performance than the adopted check cultivars. These lines were classified based on yield index into four groups using hierarchical clustering ranging from highly salt-tolerant to slightly salt-tolerant genotypes, which efficiently enhance the narrow genetic pool of salt-tolerance. The detected response to selection and high to intermediate broad-sense heritability for measured traits displayed their potentiality to be utilized through advanced generations under salinity stress for identifying salt-tolerant breeding lines.
Patients undergoing craniotomy operations are prone to various noxious stimuli, many strategies are commenced to provide state of analgesia, for better control of the stress response and to overcome ...its undesired effects on the haemodynamics and post-operative pain. Scalp nerves block are considered one of these strategies. This study was conceived to evaluate the effect of addition of hyaluronidase to the local anaesthetic mixture used in the scalp nerves block in patients undergoing elective craniotomy operations.
64 patients undergoing elective craniotomy operations were enrolled in this prospective randomized, double-blind comparative study. Patients were randomly assigned to two groups. Group LA, patients subjected to scalp nerves block with 15 ml bupivacaine 0.5%, 15 ml lidocaine 2%, in 1:400000 epinephrine. Group H as Group LA with15 IU /ml Hyaluronidase.
Patients in the H group showed lower VAS values for 8 h postoperative, compared to the LA group. The haemodynamic response showed lower values in the H group, compared to the LA group. Those effects were shown in the intraoperative period and for 6 h post-operative. No difference was detected regarding the incidence of complications nor the safety profile.
Our data supports the idea that addition of hyaluronidase to the local anesthetic mixture improves the success rates of the scalp nerves block and its efficacy especially during stressful intraoperative periods and in the early postoperative period. No evident undesirable effects in relation to the addition of hyaluronidase.

Microgreens are rich functional crops with valuable nutritional elements that have health benefits when used as food supplements. Growth characterization, nutritional composition profile of 21 ...varieties representing five species of the Brassica genus as microgreens were assessed under light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) conditions. Microgreens were grown under four different LEDs ratios (%); red:blue 80:20 and 20:80 (R80:B20 and R20:B80), or red:green:blue 70:10:20 and 20:10:70 (R70:G10:B20 and R20:G10:B70). Results indicated that supplemental lighting with green LEDs (R70:G10:B20) enhanced vegetative growth and morphology, while blue LEDs (R20:B80) increased the mineral and vitamin contents. Interestingly, by linking the nutritional content with the growth yield to define the optimal LEDs setup, we found that the best lighting to promote the microgreen growth was the green LEDs combination (R70:G10:B20). Remarkably, under the green LEDs combination (R70:G10:B20) conditions, the microgreens of Kohlrabi purple, Cabbage red, Broccoli, Kale Tucsan, Komatsuna red, Tatsoi and Cabbage green, which can benefit human health in conditions with limited food, had the highest growth and nutritional content.
Potato plants and their tubers in Egypt are affected by one of the most renowned soil-borne pathogen, Ralstonia solanacearum, that caused brown rot in potato tubers and wilt in plants. There is no ...efficient therapeutic bactericide so; control of bacterial wilt is very rough.
The study investigated three different concentrations of seven essential plant oils under in vitro and in vivo conditions as a result of their effects on Ralstonia solanacearum growth and their possibility use as potato seed pieces dressing for controlling bacterial wilt disease incidence. In vitro, anise oil at the three tested different concentrations (0.04, 0.07, and 0.14% vol/vol) was the most effective one inhibiting the growth of T4 and W9 isolates of Ralstonia solanacearum then pursued by thyme, lemongrass, and clove oils. On the other hand, rocket oil at the tested concentration was the least effective one followed by fennel oil. However, wheat germ oil was not completely effective. In vivo, experiment revealed that anise oil at the three concentrations significantly reduced disease incidence and severity in sponta and hermes potato cultivars and their effect was associated with increase of peroxidase, polyphenoloxidase, phenols and the foliar fresh weight of treated plants as well as the weight of tubers/plant followed by thyme and lemongrass oils compared to the infected untreated control.

Purpose:
This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes between arthroscopic Bankart procedure and the Latarjet procedure in the treatment of recurrent anterior shoulder instability with emphasis on follow-up time.
Study Design:
Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods:
We searched PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Scopus, Ovid, and Web of Science up to January 2018 and included studies that compared arthroscopic Bankart versus Latarjet for treatment of anterior shoulder instability. Continuous data, such as operative time and patient-reported outcomes, were pooled as mean differences (MDs), whereas dichotomous data, such as recurrence, revision, redislocation, arthropathy, infection, and hematoma, were pooled as risk ratios (RRs), with 95% CIs.
Results:
Pooling data from 7 cohort studies (3275 patients) showed that arthroscopic Bankart was associated with a higher risk of redislocation (RR, 2.74; 95% CI, 1.48-5.06; P = .03), a higher risk of recurrence (RR, 2.87; 95% CI, 1.91-4.30; P < .0001), and a lower risk of infection (RR, 0.16; 95% CI, 0.06-0.43; P = .0002) compared with Latarjet, while the effect size did not favor arthroscopic Bankart or Latarjet in terms of Rowe score (MD, 0.22; 95% CI, –5.64 to 6.08; P = .94), revision (RR, 0.34; 95% CI, 0.08-1.39; P = .13), and hematoma (RR, 0.20; 95% CI, 0.03-1.19; P = .07). The effect estimate showed a pronounced advantage for Latarjet from 6 to 10 years postoperatively in terms of recurrence and redislocation (RR, 3.00; 95% CI, 1.98-4.56 and RR, 2.85; 95% CI, 1.51-5.38, respectively).
Conclusion:
Our results showed that Latarjet had less risk of recurrence and redislocation with longer follow-up time. Both procedures were comparable in terms of Rowe score, the need for revision, and postoperative hematoma formation, whereas Bankart repair was associated with a lower risk of infection.

Based on yield index under three salinity levels, the genotypes were classified into four groups ranging from salt-tolerant to salt-sensitive genotypes. The salt-tolerant genotypes exhibited values of total chlorophyll, gas exchange (net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, and stomatal conductance), water relation (relative water content and membrane stability index), nonenzymatic osmolytes (soluble sugar, free proline, and ascorbic acid), antioxidant enzyme activities (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase), K
content, and K
/Na
ratio that were greater than those of salt-sensitive genotypes. Additionally, the salt-tolerant genotypes consistently exhibited good control of Na
and Cl
levels and maintained lower contents of malondialdehyde and electrolyte leakage under high salinity level, compared with the salt-sensitive genotypes. Several physio-biochemical parameters showed highly positive associations with grain yield and its components, whereas negative association was observed in other parameters. Accordingly, these physio-biochemical parameters can be used as individual or complementary screening criteria for evaluating salt tolerance and improvement of bread wheat genotypes under natural saline field conditions.

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith), is one of the chief severe diseases of potato in warm temperate regions, tropics and subtropics of the world. The study was conducted to isolate and identify bacterial pathogens and select the most resistant cultivars and avoid the decrease in the total value of Egyptian potato exports to the European Union (EU) due to the quarantine restrictions imposed by the EU on potato tubers exported from Egypt affected by bacterial wilt. The results of traditional identification through morphological and serological studies showed that the five isolates were isolated and identified as Ralstonia solanacearum. Furthermore, the results illustrated that RS5 isolate showed the lowest percentage of disease incidence reduction on the three tested potatoes cultivar Bellini, Spunta and Mondial recorded 9.64%, 15.41% and 34.12%, respectively. While, RS8 isolate exhibited the highest effective one the percentage of disease reduction on all tested potato cultivars. This isolate reduced disease incidence 60.60%, 63.21% and 71.66%, compering to the healthy control treatment. The result of molecular identification represent that the probe used in Taq-man (PCR) was of the type (B2) capable to detect only biovar 2 of R. solanacearum bacterial wilt. Furthermore, primer and probe are specific for detection of the race 3 biovar 2 strain. Positive results were obtained in all assays used including IFAS, protein content and SDS-PAGE with all five isolates. So the isolate (RS5) was the most virulence one, followed by RS1, RS3, RS2 and RS8, registered that the tested isolates were R. solanacearum race 3, biovar 2. Also, studies focused on the form of genetic distances and similarities based on pathogenic and plant growth parameters. The results illustrate that the highest genetic similarity (0.998) was found between Bellini and Spunta cultivars as the closest but the lowest value (0.946) was found between Mondial and Bellini as most distant. These results were similarity with genetic distances and SDS-PAGE profile of the three tested potato cultivars.

3a) was exploited to synthesize the versatile hitherto unknown 2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinones (

10) via its reaction with some electrophiles. Cyclization of 4,4′-diisothiocyanate diphenylsulfone (
11) with sulfanylacetic acid furnished 4,4′-bis(2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone-3-yl)diphenylsulfone (
12) which on treatment with excess 4-methoxybenzaldehyde in refluxing dioxane in the presence of piperidine yielded the bisbenzylidene derivative (
13). The novel synthesized compounds were characterized by IR,
1H NMR and mass spectral studies. All the synthesized compounds were screened
in vitro for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
