Spontaneous muscle hematomas (SMH) are frequently seen in the Emergency Department (ED), particularly as a complication of anticoagulation treatments. To date, there are no standard guidelines for ...the management of this condition in the ED.
This work aims to identify clinical-radiological parameters of SMH at risk of poor outcomes.
This is a retrospective, observational cohort study conducted in an urban teaching hospital from 2016 to 2019. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify parameters independently associated with an adverse outcome defined as the need for treatment (blood products, TAE, surgery) or hospitalization. The parameters analyzed were hematoma size, anticoagulation therapy, age, and the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI). ROC analysis was performed to identify the best cut-off hematoma size value to predict poor outcomes.
Our study enrolled 231 patients aged between 18 and 96 years, with a mean age of 67 years. In our population, 125 patients (54.1 % %) were on anticoagulant therapy.
Multivariate analysis showed that an SMH diameter > 5.5 cm was independently associated with poor outcome ((odds Ratio 95 % CI 4,009 1,786–9,001, p 0.001). Among clinical parameters, only advanced age was proved to be an independent predictor of adverse outcomes (odds Ratio 95 % CI 1,035 1,003–1,069, p = 0.033)
Our data suggest that an SMH diameter greater than 5.5 cm on a CT scan and advanced age are predictors of poor outcomes. Surprisingly, anticoagulant therapy seems to play a minor role in the outcome of SMHs.
Tennis coaches display significant influence, catalyzing changes in athlete performance, motivation, and overall well-being. Research on coaches’ motivations and their impact on coaching style, work, ...and well-being is limited, especially in individual sports like tennis. Based on self-determination (SDT) and achievement goal (AGT) theories, the aim of the present study was to examine the relationships of coaches’ self-determined motivation (intrinsic, extrinsic, and amotivation), basic psychological needs satisfaction (autonomy, relatedness, and competence), and achievement goals (self-improvement—SI, self-enhancement—SE, self-transcendence—ST) with their coach-created empowering-disempowering motivational climate, work engagement, and well-being (subjective vitality). Participants were 106 tennis coaches from Greece (66 males and 40 females), with an average age of 41.30 ± 12.54 years and coaching experience ranging from six months to 40 years. Data was collected through online questionnaires. Correlation analysis revealed that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, satisfaction of the three basic psychological needs, and achievement goals were found to be positively related to an empowering climate, work engagement, and subjective vitality. Coaches’ amotivation was positively related to a disempowering climate. Multiple regression analyses showed that autonomy and ST achievement goals significantly predicted tennis coaches’ empowering motivational climate, while none of the independent variables were significant predictors of the disempowering motivational climate. Additionally, intrinsic motivation and ST goal significantly predicted tennis coaches’ work engagement, while autonomy and ST goal significantly predicted their subjective vitality. It is advisable for forthcoming coach education initiatives to consider these findings as an additional justification for tennis coaches to incorporate multiple perspectives into their coaching methodologies.
In this follow-up study, we aimed to assess the effectiveness of the "
" anti-smoking preventive health education program. The program was based on the theory of planned behavior supplemented with ...life skills teaching and targeted at high school students. The intervention comprised ten one-hour online sessions, administered by physical education instructors. The study cohort comprised 222 students (109 boys, 113 girls) from 11 secondary schools, with an average age of 16.42 ± 1.36 years. Data collection involved pre- and post-intervention self-assessment questionnaires. The examined variables included attitudes towards smoking, intention to smoke, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control (PBC), knowledge about smoking, smoking behavior, exercise behavior, attitudes toward the program's implementation, and satisfaction with the program. A separate paired samples
-test revealed a significant improvement in students' knowledge about smoking (
= -5.605,
< 0.001, d = 0.38) and perceived behavioral control (
= -2.166,
< 0.05, d = 0.15) following the intervention. However, no significant changes were observed in the remaining variables. In addition, students' overall satisfaction with the implementation of the present health education program was high (
= 5.72 ± 1.39). These findings suggest that the health education smoking prevention intervention incorporates techniques and strategies that influence the perceived behavioral control variable, emphasizing students' strong interest in educationally theorized programs integrating technology into their design. Future studies should consider further examination of tobacco control strategies within the high school context.

Introduction
Glucose transporter type 1 (Glut1) deficiency syndrome is a treatable neurometabolic disorder characterized by seizures, developmental delay, and hypoglycorrhachia. Due to the ...rareness and non‐specific clinical manifestations, it is usually mis‐ or underdiagnosed.
Case presentation
We report the case of a toddler who presented with afebrile epileptic seizures and abnormal gait. Brain imaging and electroencephalogram were normal. Further investigation of the cerebrospinal fluid revealed hypoglycorrhachia that was the clue to the diagnosis of Glut1 deficiency syndrome and the initiation of treatment with ketogenic diet.
Conclusion
Our case highlights the importance of lumbar puncture while investigating a child with epileptic seizures and abnormal gait or developmental delay, in order not to miss treatable neurometabolic conditions, such as Glut1 deficiency syndrome.
The present study examined the effectiveness of a school-based health education program promoting healthy diet and exercise, named DIEX, implemented on adolescents. The program is based on the Theory ...of Planned Behavior (TPB) and is supported by life skills training. The recipients of the program were high school students (
= 367; 168 boys and 199 girls) from 14 schools in Greece who attended 10 1 h sessions implemented by their schoolteachers. Data were collected before and after the program implementation through online questionnaires for: a. attitude, intention, subjective norms, and PBC toward healthy eating; b. knowledge about healthy eating; c. exercise behavior and attitude toward the DIEX program; and d. satisfaction with the DIEX program (only post-program). The results showed that there were significant differences among the pre- and post-measures of students' knowledge and behavior about healthy diet, as well as attitudes and satisfaction toward the program's application. The results show that the DIEX program may have improved nutrition behavior variables. Conclusively, a theory-based behavioral intervention with skills training may result in positive behavioral changes for young students during health education in school settings with the assistance of new technologies.
This article will explore the extent to which a focus on the ‘local’ can tell us something meaningful about recent developments in the governance of displaced migrants and refugees. Taking a ...multi-sited approach spanning cases in the south and north of Europe, we consider how the challenge of housing and accommodation in particular, a core sector of migrant reception and integration, can shed light on the ways local and city level approaches may negotiate, and sometimes diverge from, national level policy and rhetoric. While it can be said that despite variation, local authorities are by definition ultimately ‘always subordinate’ (Emilsson, Comparative Migration Studies, 3: 1-17, 2015: 4), they can also show evidence of ‘decoupling’ across geographies of policy delivery (Pope and Meyer, European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology, 3: 280–305, 2016: 290). This article traces how possible local variations in different European cases are patterned by ground-level politics, local strategic networks, and pre-existing economic resources in a manner that is empirically detailed through the study of housing.
Qual é a abrangência e relevância do ensino de Arte na Educação Infantil dentro das competências em currículos escolares? Toma-se como objetivo geral desta pesquisa identificar prospecções do ensino ...de arte na Educação Infantil a partir de diretrizes presentes em currículos da Educação Básica. Emprega-se uma revisão bibliográfica e documental, de caráter empírico e qualitativo, com respaldo em estudos Freirianos, ensino de arte e conteúdos curriculares. Primeiramente, levantam-se as concepções de ensino de arte na Educação infantil e, na sequência, identificam-se as limitações dos currículos escolares em sua distribuição do ensino de arte por competências a partir da BNCC (BRASIL, 2018) e suas implicações na formação de professores(as) e no desenvolvimento de crianças. Como resultado desta pesquisa, aponta-se para a construção e execução de reformas curriculares para o ensino de arte, sobretudo na Educação Infantil, oportunizando um desenvolvimento humanizado para todas as crianças, especialmente, das classes populares.
Purpose
To determine the effect of surgical instrumentation on pulmonary function after surgery.
Methods
A literature review was performed to identify articles reporting on the effect of scoliosis ...surgery on the pulmonary function in patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Data for each patient were extracted from included studies, and a meta-analysis was performed using the values of forced vital capacity (FVC) before and after surgery.
Results
A total of 127 articles were reviewed, and ten articles were selected for data extraction according to inclusion criteria. The results of the meta-analysis showed no difference in respiratory function pre-operatively and at last follow-up. Four out of ten studies demonstrated similar results and five studies reported a decrease in pulmonary function after surgery. Only one study showed improvement in lung function.
Conclusion
At the moment, there is insufficient evidence in the literature to support that spinal surgery can improve respiratory function. According to our meta-analysis study, vital capacity remains either unchanged or the rate of deterioration is decreased after surgery. Nevertheless, these are both considered favorable outcomes taking into account the natural course of the disease with progressive deterioration of pulmonary function over time.
