We wanted to determine the decisions on advanced life support at the end-stage of life in case of a life-threatening illness for the people themselves and their first degree relatives and the factors effecting these decisions.
The cross-sectional study was conducted with volunteers among patients and patient relatives who applied to all polyclinics of the Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital except the emergency, oncology and psychiatry polyclinics between 15.12.2012 and 15.03.2013.
A questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety Depression (HAD) scale, and Templer's Death Anxiety Scale (TDA) were applied to all individuals. SPSS for Win. Ver. 17.0 and MS-Excel 2010 Starter software bundles were used for all statistical analysis and calculations.
The participants want both themselves and their first degree relatives included in end-stage decision-making process. Therefore, the patients and their families should be informed adequately during decision making process and quality communication must be provided.
Participants who have given their end-stage decisions previously want to be treated according to these decisions. This desire can just be possible by advanced directives.When moral and material loads of end-stage process are taken into consideration, countries, in which advanced directives are practiced, should be examined well and participants' desire should be evaluated in terms of practicability.
Amaç: Aile hekimliği uzmanları, hastalarla ilk temas noktasını oluşturan birinci basamakta görev alan sağlık neferleridir. Uzmanlık eğitim sürecini birçok eğitim aşamasından geçirerek tamamlayan ...hekimler 3 yıl boyunca bir bilgi birikimi kazanırlar. Aile hekimliği uzmanlarının geniş bir yelpazedeki hastalık grubuna hakim olmaları adına antikoagülan tedavi ve takibi hakkında farkındalıklarının ortaya konması gerekmektedir.Materyal ve Metot: Araştırma gözlemsel, kesitsel bir anket çalışması olarak planladı. Ankara’daki aile hekimliği asistanlarına, özellikle eğitim saatlerinde, anketler dağıtıldı. 01/9/2014 ile 01/12/2014 tarihleri arasında çalışmamıza davet edilen asistan hekimlerden anket sorularına eksiksiz yanıt veren 143 katılımcı araştırmaya dahil edildi.Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğu genç hekimlerden oluşmaktaydı. Asistan hekimlerin sadece % 8,4’ü antikoagülan tedavi ve takibi ile ilgili bir eğitime katıldığını ifade etti. Katılımcılardan eğitime katılanların bilgi düzeyi ve farkındalıklarını ölçmeye yönelik olan sorulara daha doğru yanıtlar verdiğini gördük. Hekimlik mesleğinde 10 yılını doldurmamış olanlar çoğunluğu oluşturmaktaydı. Genç hekimler olarak nitelendirdiğimiz bu grubun soruları doğru cevaplama oranları daha yüksekti. Sonuç: Bu araştırma ile antikoagülan tedavi ve takibi konusunda farkındalık ve eğitim eksikliği ortaya konulmuştur. Bu çalışmayı destekleyici araştırmalar ile aile hekimliği asistanlarının farkındalıklarının eksik olduğu konular belirlenerek bu konulara yönelik eğitim planlarının yapılması daha donanımlı aile hekimliği uzmanlarının sağlık hizmeti vermesini sağlayacaktır.
Amaç: Bu çalışma Evde Sağlık Hizmetleri Birimi’ne (ESHB) kayıtlı 65 yaş ve üstü hastaların influenza ve pnömokok aşıları hakkındaki bilgi düzeylerini ve durumlarını saptayarak aşı yapılmasının ...gerekliliği ve uygun zamanı hakkında hasta ve yakınlarını bilgilendirerek risk grubunun aşılanma oranlarını artırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Materyal ve Metot: Bu araştırma hastaların mevcut aşılanma durumlarını tanımlayıcı ve aşılanma hakkında kısa bilgilendirme ile uygun yönlendirme neticesinde hastaların aşılanma eğilimlerinin saptanacağı prospektif tipte gözlemsel bir araştırmadır. Çalışmaya özgün yapılandırılmış bir anket formu ve aşılanmanın önemi ve gerekliliği hakkında standart bir bilgi formu oluşturulmuştur. Koruyucu sağlık hizmetleri kapsamında ESHB’de Eylül 2017 tarihine kadar kayıtlı tüm hasta ve yakınlarına aşılanma döneminde aşılar hakkında standart kısa bir metin ile bilgilendirmeleri yapılmış ve aşılarını yaptırmak isteyen hastalar kayıtlı oldukları aile hekimlerine yönlendirilmiştir. Bu bilgilendirme sonrasında çalışmamıza katılmayı kabul edenlerin anket formu, hasta dosyaları taranarak ve evde sağlık hizmetleri kapsamında yapılan takiplerde (ev ziyareti veya telefon ile) hasta veya yakınlarına ulaşılarak doldurulmuştur (N: 295). Bilgilendirmenin etkisinin saptanabilmesi için hasta ve yakınlarına evde sağlık hizmetleri kapsamında 4 aylık bir aradan sonra tekrar araştırmacılar tarafından ulaşılmış (N: 228) ve aşılanma durumları, grip ve pnömoni olup olmadıkları ve eğer oldularsa bu nedenle hastane yatışlarının olup olmadığı sorgulanmıştır.Bulgular: Çalışmamıza katılmayı kabul eden 295 hastanın yaş ortalaması 83,65±7,63’tü. Hastaların %74,23’ü kadın, %25,76’sı erkekti. Hastalardan %17,28’i okuma yazma bilmiyorken %14,23’ü yükseköğrenim mezunuydu. %71,53’ü dul veya bekâr, %28,47’si evliydi. Hastaların %3,05’i sigara içiyorken %1,01’i alkol kullanıyordu. Hastaların %39,32’si yatağa tam bağımlı, %48,81’i yarı bağımlıydı. Hastaların sahip olduğu kronik hastalık sayısı ortalama 3,13±1,38’di. İnfluenza aşısından hastaların %31,22’sinin; Pnömokok aşısından ise hastaların %53,14’ünün hiç haberdar olmadığı ortaya çıktı. Geçen sene influenza aşısını yaptırma oranları %22,03 iken pnömokok aşısı yaptırma oranları ise sadece %6,44 idi. Çalışmamıza dâhil olan hastaların aşılardan haberdar olma durumlarıyla influenza aşısı (p<0,001) ve pnömokok aşısı (p=0,020) yaptırma oranları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu saptandı. Tüm hastalara influenza ve pnömokok aşısı hakkındaki kısa bilgilendirme, öneri ve yönlendirme yapıldı. Dört ay sonraki kontrol görüşmelerinde influenza (%25,11) ve pnömokok aşısı (%14,91) yaptırma oranlarında artış görülürken pnömokok aşılanmasındaki artışta ise anlamlı bir farklılık saptandı(p<0,001). Diğer taraftan hastaların sadece %24’ünün aile hekiminden ek bilgi aldığı görülürken; hastaların grip (p<0,001) ve pnömoni (p<0,001) hastalığını geçirme sıklığında anlamlı derecede bir azalma ve hastaneye yatış sıklığında ise orantısal bir azalma olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç: Çalışmamızda evde sağlık hizmetleri kapsamındaki hastaların influenza ve pnömokok aşılarını büyük oranda yaptırmadıkları saptandı. Hastalar aşılar hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip değildi. Hastaların hekim tarafından aşılar konusunda bilgilendirilmesiyle aşıların yapılma oranının arttığı ve hastalıkların görülme sıklığının azaldığı görülmüştür.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the opinions of health professionals (HPs) who provide family planning counselling (FPC) within the scope of primary health care services since they are ...perceived as role models by the society. The number of HPs providing family planning counselling in primary health services in Turkey was 43,000 and 40,000 of these individuals were invited to participate in this observational, cross-sectional study via e-mail and social media. There were 740 responders and all were included in the study. Physicians providing FPC within the scope of primary health care services consisted of 45.1% of the responders and the remaining were nurses. Among all HPs, 59.7% had insufficient awareness regarding Turkey’s population growth. Most of the HPs (52.4%) believed that the ideal number of children was 2 or less. The abortion rate was 9.1% in all pregnancies of HPs. The rate of caesarean section was 56% in all live births. According to responses, 75.6% of all pregnancies experienced by HPs were planned. According to 42.1% of the HPs, abortion must be performed if there is a life-threatening situation for the mother or if the fetus has some abnormalities. The most common method of birth control used by married HPs between the ages of 18 and 49 was male condoms (39.9%), while the pull-out method ranked first in the general population (25.5%). It was found that HPs, who had different opinions and practices about family planning than the general population, had insufficient awareness regarding population growth. Increased awareness of demography and FPC among HPs will likely contribute to the quality of service and the general wellbeing of the population.
Social media sites are useful platforms for providing crisis-related information. This study aims to identify specific categories shared by travellers on social media during crises such as protests ...and mass demonstrations. By employing qualitative data analysis methods, 932 comments about three large protests in 2019 were included in the analysis. Study results show that security concerns of tourists are more prominent in protests with high casualties and police involvement. Information about public transportation and areas to avoid is vital for tourists. To address tourists' concerns, many locals contribute to social media platforms in the absence of a timely and reliable source. Specific theoretical and practical implications are provided.
Sulfur-based autotrophic denitrification of nitrified activated sludge process effluent was studied in pilot and full scale column bioreactors. Three identical pilot scale column bioreactors packed ...with varying sulfur/lime-stone ratios (1/1-3/1) were setup in a local wastewater treatment plant and the performances were compared under varying loading conditions for long-term operation. Complete denitrification was obtained in all pilot bioreactors even at nitrate loading of 10 mg NO3(-)-N/(L.h). When the temperature decreased to 10 °C during the winter time at loading of 18 mg NO3(-)-N/(L.h), denitrification efficiency decreased to 60-70% and the bioreactor with S/L ratio of 1/1 gave slightly better performance. A full scale sulfur-based autotrophic denitrification process with a S/L ratio of 1/1 was set up for the denitrification of an activated sludge process effluent with a flow rate of 40 m(3)/d. Almost complete denitrification was attained with a nitrate loading rate of 6.25 mg NO3(-)-N/(L.h).
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the cyber hygiene practices of remote workers.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper used two instruments: first, the Cyber Hygiene Inventory ...scale, which measures users’ information and computer security behaviors; second, the Recsem Inventory, developed within this paper’s context, to evaluate the cybersecurity measures adopted by organizations for remote workers. It was conducted on remote workers to examine their information security practices. The instrument was administered to a sample of 442 employees reached via the LinkedIn platform. Analyses were performed with SPSS v26, Python programming language and Seaborn library.
Findings
The findings indicate a significant correlation between the security measures implemented by companies and their employees’ cyber hygiene practices. A sector comparison revealed a significant difference in cyber hygiene levels between public and private sector workers.
Research limitations/implications
This paper aims to provide policymakers with suggestions for enhancing the cyber hygiene of remote workers to facilitate compliance with corporate security protocols.
Originality/value
This paper’s conclusions highlight the importance of companies increasing their cybersecurity investments as remote work becomes more prevalent. This should consider not only corporate-level factors but also employees' information and computer security behaviors.
Bu çalışma Türkiye işgücü piyasasında yönetim bilişim sistemleri (YBS) bölüm mezunlarına odaklanan iş ilanları üzerinden işverenlerin beklentilerini ve YBS algısını açıklamaya çalışmaktadır. ...Türkiye’deki önemli iş ilanı platformlarından YBS mezunlarına odaklanan iş ilanları metni web kazıma yöntemi ile toplanmış, ardından bilgisayar destekli nitel veri analiz yöntemlerinden yararlanarak içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında YBS bölümünün birlikte ele alındığı bölümler incelenmiş ve Türkiye’de YBS mezunlarından beklenen yetkinlikler YBS alanının teorik temellerinin atıldığı Amerika Birleşik Devletleri (ABD)’ndeki YBS iş ilanları ile karşılaştırmalar yapılarak sunulmaktadır. Böylece üniversitelerin YBS müfredatlarında olması gereken içeriklerin belirlenmesi, birlikte ele alınan bölümlerin ortaya konması, bölümler arası ders alımları, Çift Anadal ve Yandal programları planlanması konularında karar vericilere katkı sunması öngörülmektedir.
This paper examines the employers' expected skills and perception of MIS through job adverts directed towards MIS graduates in the labor market. We collected job adverts aimed at MIS graduates from popular online platforms using the web scraping method, and we analyzed the data using computer-aided qualitative data analyze software. The collected data includes company and sector information, company location, offered job position, and job advert details. Our study presents the competencies expected from the MIS graduates in Turkey, and it compares the MIS job postings from the United States, where the theoretical foundations of the MIS field are laid, with the jobs from Turkey The study also addresses other departments mentioned in MIS job adverts. Thus, our study will have several contributions for policymakers in determining the MIS curriculum, revealing departments discussed together, and planning interdepartmental course selections, Double Major, and Minor programs.
