Issue
Urban planning plays a crucial role in healthy lifestyle promotion, impacting physical activity and non-communicable diseases prevalence. National and regional strategies rely on an integrated ...approach. Under the chapter of collective prevention and public health, the new LEA (Assistance Essential Levels) include evaluating land-use plans (PGT in Italy) with a preventive assessment on the relationship between health and urban environment.
Description of the problem
The Italian Ministry of Health and the Lombardy Region with Polytechnic University of Milan proposed good practices for health impact evaluation of urban and environmental interventions of regeneration and redevelopment. After bibliographic research, on-site and on-field training, community practice and experts' evaluation, a multicriterial tool was built. A set of indicators (7 macro-areas) was selected to measure the propensity of urban plans to promote health. In 2020 the new guidelines were introduced in the administrative process of health impact assessment for receptors and of quinquennial PGT re-evaluation.
Results
The Health Protection Agency of the Po Valley (provinces of Cremona and Mantova, in Northern Italy) was asked to produce 344 judgements on civil buildings during 2020. Among them, 12 opinions referred to partial variations of PGT in 12 different municipalities. No comprehensive urban plan evaluation was requested in 2020.
Lessons
PGT evaluation through the proposed tool allows estimating the capacity to control population risk factors and promote a context organized to satisfy social needs and improve quality of life. In the rural context of small municipalities of Cremona and Mantova, an encountered limitation was the small size of urban centres. Thus, applying strategies conceived for metropolitan areas was challenging. A contextual evaluation of bordering municipalities urban plans would be desirable to promote bigger-scale interventions about transports, soil use and emission sources.
Key messages
Applying urban health good practices to land-use plan evaluation in rural areas with small municipalities poses some issues due to reduced interventions scale.
It would be helpful to promote the simultaneous evaluation of bordering municipalities' urban plans so as to suggest integrated health interventions on a larger scale.

impact parameter resolution enables CDF's Level 2 trigger to distinguish primary and secondary particles, and hence to collect large samples of hadronic bottom and charm decays. We review some of SVT's key design features. Speed is achieved with custom VLSI pattern recognition, linearized track fitting, pipelining, and parallel processing. Testing and reliability are aided by built-in logic state analysis and test-data sourcing at each board's input and output, a common interboard data link, and a universal “Merger” board for data fan-in/fan-out. Speed and adaptability are enhanced by use of modern FPGAs.
APE1 is a multifunctional protein with a fundamental role in repairing nuclear and mitochondrial DNA lesions caused by oxidative and alkylating agents. Unfortunately, comprehensions of the mechanisms ...regulating APE1 intracellular trafficking are still fragmentary and contrasting. Recent data demonstrate that APE1 interacts with the mitochondrial import and assembly protein Mia40 suggesting the involvement of a redox-assisted mechanism, dependent on the disulfide transfer system, to be responsible of APE1 trafficking into the mitochondria. The MIA pathway is an import machinery that uses a redox system for cysteine enriched proteins to drive them in this compartment. It is composed by two main proteins: Mia40 is the oxidoreductase that catalyzes the formation of the disulfide bonds in the substrate, while ALR reoxidizes Mia40 after the import. In this study, we demonstrated that: (i) APE1 and Mia40 interact through disulfide bond formation; and (ii) Mia40 expression levels directly affect APE1's mitochondrial translocation and, consequently, play a role in the maintenance of mitochondrial DNA integrity. In summary, our data strongly support the hypothesis of a redox-assisted mechanism, dependent on Mia40, in controlling APE1 translocation into the mitochondrial inner membrane space and thus highlight the role of this protein transport pathway in the maintenance of mitochondrial DNA stability and cell survival.

The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) Silicon Vertex Tracker (SVT) is a device that works inside the CDF Level 2 trigger to find and fit tracks in real time using the central silicon vertex ...detector information. SVT starts from tracks found by the Level 1 central chamber fast trigger and adds the silicon information to compute transverse track parameters with offline quality in about
15
μs
. The CDF SVT is fully installed and functional and has been exercised with real data during the spring and summer 2001. It is a complex digital device of more than 100 VME boards that performs a dramatic data reduction (only about one event in a thousand is accepted by the trigger). Diagnosing rare failures poses a special challenge and SVT internal data flow is monitored by dedicated hardware and software. This paper briefly covers the SVT architecture and design and reports on the SVT building/commissioning experience (hardware and software) and on the first results from the initial running.
This study uses an innovative measure, the Semantic Brand Score, to assess the interest of stakeholders in different company core values. Among others, we focus on corporate social responsibility ...(CSR) core value statements, and on the attention they receive from five categories of stakeholders (customers, company communication teams, employees, associations and media). Combining big data methods and tools of Social Network Analysis and Text Mining, we analyzed about 58,000 Italian tweets and found that different stakeholders have different prevailing interests. CSR gets much less attention than expected. Core values related to customers and employees are in the foreground.
In order to face the complexity of business environments and detect priorities while triggering contingency strategies, we propose a new methodological approach that combines text mining, social ...network and big data analytics, with the assessment of stakeholders' attitudes towards company core values. This approach was applied in a case study where we considered the Twitter discourse about core values in Italy. We collected more than 94,000 tweets related to the core values of the firms listed in Fortune's ranking of the World's Most Admired Companies (2013-2017). For the Italian scenario, we found three predominant core values orientations (Customers, Employees and Excellence) - which should be at the basis of any business strategy - and three latent ones (Economic-Financial Growth, Citizenship and Social Responsibility), which need periodic attention. Our contribution is mostly methodological and extends the research on text mining and on online big data analytics applied in complex business contexts.
The online silicon vertex tracker (SVT) is the new trigger processor dedicated to the two-dimensional (2-D) reconstruction of charged particle trajectories at the Level 2 of the Collider Detector at ...Fermilab (CDF) trigger. The SVT links the digitized pulse heights found within the silicon vertex detector to the tracks reconstructed in the central outer tracker by the Level 1 fast-track finder. Preliminary tests of the system took place during the October 2000 commissioning run of the Tevatron Collider. During the April-October 2001 data taking, it was possible to evaluate the performance of the system. In this paper, we review the tracking algorithms implemented in the SVT and we report on the performance achieved during the early phase of run II.
