The modular Cherenkov detectors based on MCP-PMTs are developed for study Au+Au collisions in MPD and BM@N experiments with beams of Nuclotron and future collider NICA in Dubna. The aim of the ...detector is fast and effective triggering nucleus–nucleus collisions and generation of start signal for TOF detectors. The detector performance is studied with MC simulation and test measurements with a beam of Nuclotron.
Fast Cherenkov and scintillation detectors based on microchannel-plate photomultiplier tubes and silicon photomultipliers are being developed for application in the multi-purpose detector and ...baryonic matter at the Nuclotron experiments with the heavy ion beams at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The aim of the detectors is the fast triggering of nucleus–nucleus collisions with high efficiency and to generate the start signal with picosecond time resolution for time-of-flight measurements. The detectors provide a time resolution better than 50 ps and can operate in the strong magnetic field of the experimental facilities.

The BM@N facility is a fixed target experiment based on heavy ion beams of the Nuclotron-M accelerator. The aim of the BM@N is to study nucleus – nucleus collisions at energies up to 4.5 GeV per ...nucleon. A level 0 trigger processor unit (Trigger L0 unit, T0U) for the BM@N deuterons and carbon ions at Run’2015 has been developed. The T0U is used to generate a BM@N zero level trigger and a TOF detector precise start.T0U generates trigger signal based on beam line and target area detector signals. This module also provides both control and monitoring of the detector front-end electronics power supplies. This article presents a concept, characteristics and test results of the T0U module during the Run 2015.
Fast and slow components of responses of scintillation detectors based on BaF

Concept of a fast forward detector (FFD) developed as part of Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) setup for future experiments with beams of nuclear collider NICA is described. The FFD is aimed at ...triggering nucleus-nucleus collisions at the center of the MPD setup and generating start pulse for TOF detector. Two units of the detector module were designed, produced, and tested with cosmic rays and proton beam. The time resolution obtained in the measurements is ∼30 ps (sigma). Results of simulation, prototype developing and experimental tests are discussed.
Neutron- and proton-induced fission cross-sections of separated isotopes of tungsten (182W, 183W, 184W, and 186W) and 181Ta relative to 209Bi have been measured in the incident nucleon energy region ...50 - 200 MeV using fission chambers based on thin-film breakdown counters (TFBC) using quasi-monoenergetic neutrons from the 7Li(p,n) reaction and at the proton beams of The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL), Uppsala University (Uppsala, Sweden). The results are compared with predictions by the CEM03.01 event generator, as well as with the recent data for nuclei in the lead-bismuth region. The effect of "compound nucleus" in the intermediate energy region is discussed, displaying in exponential dependence of nucleon-induced fission cross-sections on the parameter Z^2/A of the composite system (projectile+target nucleus), and in other characteristics of the fission process for which parameter Z^2/A plays a role similar to the one of the usual liquid-drop parameter Z^2/A of compound nuclei.
Let \(Q\) be a relatively compact subset in a Hilbert space \(V\). For a given \(\e>0\) let \(N(\e,Q)\) be the minimal number of linear measurements, sufficient to reconstruct any \(x \in Q\) with ...the accuracy \(\e\). We call \(N(\e,Q)\) a sampling \(\e\)-entropy of \(Q\). Using Dimensionality Reduction, as provided by the Johnson-Lindenstrauss lemma, we show that, in an appropriate probabilistic setting, \(N(\e,Q)\) is bounded from above by the Kolmogorov's \(\e\)-entropy \(H(\e,Q)\), defined as \(H(\e,Q)=\log M(\e,Q)\), with \(M(\e,Q)\) being the minimal number of \(\e\)-balls covering \(Q\). As the main application, we show that piecewise smooth (piecewise analytic) functions in one and several variables can be sampled with essentially the same accuracy rate as their regular counterparts. For univariate piecewise \(C^k\)-smooth functions this result, which settles the so-called Eckhoff conjecture, was recently established in \cite{Bat} via a deterministic "algebraic reconstruction" algorithm.
A spectrometer has been designed and built to investigate the dynamics of spontaneous and ion-induced fission processes.
