Characteristics of the decay of alpha like nuclei produced in various reactions with alpha conjugate nuclei are discussed. We observe a significant number of events in which a large fraction of the ...system breaks up into alpha-conjugate nuclei. Lighter fragments in the various decay channels appear to originate from a neck-like region between 4 and 7 cm/ns whereas the heavier fragments appear to originate from velocities near the beam velocity. This behavior is consistent with a hierarchy effect that cannot be explained by statistical processes.
Among the many different ways one can look at to improve solar cell performance, those which require minor changes to the cell architecture are clearly beneficial and often preferred to implement in ...mass production. Many studies are devoted to the emitter or the contact formation in silicon solar cells. In particular, the selective emitter (SE) approach with a high doping concentration at the surface underneath the metal-contact area coupled with a low doping level in the non-metalized areas is gaining momentum for mass production implementation. By leveraging on the better blue response (leading to higher Isc and Voc) we were able to achieve 0.6%abs efficiency increase with a simple printable dopant paste approach. We also tested the possibility to optimize contact formation by different implementations of double metal printing (DP) process. The use of differentiated pastes, and very fine line (60um) we were able to achieve an extra 0.2%abs efficiency increase, while saving precious Ag paste. The two technologies combined significantly improve the cell performance, adding only two process steps in a cell production line, in turn reducing the cost per Wp.
In-medium phenomena of low density nuclear matter are studied using collisions of 47 A MeV 40 Ar and 64 Zn projectiles with 112Sn and 124Sn target nuclei. Low density equations of state are tested by ...confronting various models with the data. In-medium cluster binding energies and symmetry density are also studied at low densities. We find that models that account for in-medium effects in general describe the data better than models that do not.

detector array is described. The array is composed of 228 detector modules annularly arranged into 14 rings. Telescopes of Si–CsI and Si–Si–CsI provide excellent isotopic ...resolution throughout the detector array. To enhance event characterization, the entire charged particle array is housed inside the TAMU Neutron Ball.

The EURopean Illicit TRAfficking Countermeasures Kit (EURITRACK) inspection system has been designed to complement X-ray scanners in the detection of explosives and other illicit materials hidden in ...cargo containers. The containers are interrogated by a 14-MeV tagged neutron beam at any suspect position in the X-ray image. Interrogation of a specific volume element with tagged neutrons yields information about the chemical composition of the material. Implementation and performance tests of the EURITRACK system in the Port of Rijeka in Croatia are described. Cargo container inspection results are reported and discussed.
The possibility of obtaining economic benefits out of two-step printing processes is still a matter of debate for the industry. This is due to both the evolution of the single printing process and to ...the superimposition of many technological and economic variables. In the present work we analyze production cost and cell performance benefits achieved in a mc-Si solar cells production environment. Three different screen technologies are compared; we find that for all of them the finger aspect ratio is improved with respect to the single print baseline. An efficiency gain of approximately 0.1 absolute is also found. The overall performance of the double printing technology in terms of €/Wp is evaluated taking into account the efficiency gain, the screen lifetime and cost, the Ag consumption and the additional costs due to labor and equipment depreciation. The three screen technologies offer savings ranging from 0.4% to 1.4% of the total production costs.
