The study reports on the capture of a new-born specimen of shortfin mako shark Isurus oxyrinchus Rafinesque, 1810 off Karantina islet coast, Urla, Izmir (north Aegean Sea). This specimen measured 761 ...mm in total length and weighed 2900 g. The historical and recent captures of the species in the area shows the presence of new-born, juvenile and adult males and females. The distribution of these specimens suggests the potential occurrence of a nursery ground in the same area. To preserve the extirpation of the species throughout the area where it finds favourable environmental parameters to live, a management plan should be conducted to ensure the establishment of a viable population in the Turkish marine waters
After fertilization, elasmobranch eggs (mostly megalecithal) are encapsulated in a tertiary membrane of different complexity, in the oviducal gland. The gross morphological characteristics of this ...membrane in elasmobranchs are highly variable, attaining it most sophisticates’ forms within the oviparous species. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the knowledge of the elasmobranch tertiary membranes, in both viviparous and oviparous species, and to discuss the relation with their role in protecting the embryos their development. In addition, the limitations of yolk-sac viviparity as a single reproductive mode category are commented, suggesting a new arrangement of taxa within that reproductive mode and new terminology. Data on tertiary membranes in elasmobranchs come from a large number of sources ranging from 1977 to date. Specimens were captured on board of commercial and scientific research cruises, from the following some major geographic regions: South Western Atlantic, South Western Pacific, and different areas of the Mediterranean Sea. In all, our records of tertiary membranes belong to ten species of sharks of five orders; Hexanchiformes, Squatiniformes, Heterodontiformes, Lamniformes, Carcharhiniformes, and eight species of rays and skates, of four orders: Rajiformes, Rhinopristiformes, Torpediniformes and Myliobatiformes. The reproductive modes reported for all this species were both lecithotrophic (yolk-sac viviparity, short single oviparity) and matrotrophic (ovotrophy, placentotrophy, limited and lipidic histotrophy). Six morphological and structural major patterns were detected within the yolk-sac viviparous species (type I to VI); a thin, diaphanous, shapeless membrane; candle capsules; oviparous-like tough egg capsule, and cases where no tertiary membrane was present.
On 16 June 2022, two specimens of
Pomacanthus maculosus
(Forsskål, 1775) were observed in the Syrian marine waters. One specimen was captured and classified, measured, preserved in formaldehyde and ...deposited at Tishreen University. It is a second substantiated record in the Levant Basin, and the first for the Syrian coast. The successful establishment of a viable population of
P. maculosus
in the Mediterranean Sea remains a suitable hypothesis which cannot be totally ruled out.

To je drugi potvrđeni nalaz ove vrste za područje Levanta te prvi za sirijske vode. Uspješna uspostava održive populacije vrste
P. maculosus
u Sredozemnom moru ostaje prikladna hipoteza koja se ne može potpuno odbaciti.

En Islam, le sujet est, par définition, totalement soumis à la volonté divine dont le message a été transmis au monde par le Prophète Mahomet, et dont les normes intangibles doivent être ...rigoureusement respectées. Ces normes sont exclusivement dogmatique et constituent la loi islamique ou shari’a dans laquelle l’initiative personnelle semblerait limitée au sens où on l’entend en Occident. Toutefois, des penseurs musulmans comme Ali Merad, Mohamed Arkoun et Malek Chebel s’attachent à démontrer qu’il existe dans l’Islam des éléments de droit qui offrent au sujet musulman de plus grands espaces de liberté, en refusant la logique du fondamentalisme et en adoptant un discours plus libéral. Ils proposent une relecture diachronique du Coran, tout en s’attachant aux objectifs les plus significatifs de la révélation, les plus en rapport avec l’ontologie du sujet ; autrement dit, intégrer l’Islam dans la modernité sans en altérer l’essence. Abdennour Badir suggère un « self islam » dans lequel le sujet est totalement libéré et décomplexé.
In Islam, the subject, is considered as totally submited to God’s will, whose message was revealed worldwide by the Prophet Muhammad, and its inviolable norms must be strictly respected. These norms are exclusively dogmatic and constitute the islamic law or ‘Shariah.’ However, some muslim thinkers such as Ali Merad, Mohamed Arkoun and Malek Chebel try to show that it exists in Islam principles of right that offer to muslim subject larger freedom areas, avoiding fundamentalism and accepting a more liberal position. They suggest a diachronic reading of Coran, closely related to the most significant aims of Revelation and to subject ontology; including Islam in a modern way of life, without changing its essence. Abdennour Badir suggests a ‘self islam’ in which the Muslim subject is free and without any complexes.
The capture of four abnormal specimens of the Striped panray, Zanobatus schoenleiniii was reported from shallow coastal waters surrounding the touristic area of Dakar, Republic of Senegal, and among ...them, some specimens displaying morphological deformities. A specimen exhibited a pectoral non-adherent to the head, a second was tailless, and two specimens displayed scoliosis at level of trunchal vertebrae and tail. The abnormalities are described and their causes and consequences herein considered.
A specimen of slender goby Gobius geniporus Valenciennes, 1837 was caught on 21 February 2021, from the Syrian coast at a depth of 13 m. This specimen measured 87 mm in total length and weighed 6.89 ...g. The present finding represents the first record of G. geniporus from the Syrian coast and confirms the species occurrence in the Levant Basin, eastern region from the Mediterranean Sea.
Primjerak glavoča bjelaša Gobius geniporus Valenciennes, 1837, ulovljen je 21. veljače 2021. sa sirijske obale na dubini od 13 metara. Ovaj nalaz imao je ukupnu duljinu 87 mm i težio je 6,89 g. Sadašnji nalaz predstavlja prvi zapis o G. geniporus sa sirijske obale i potvrđuje pojavu vrste u slivu Levanta, istočnoj regiji Sredozemnog mora.
The authors present the first records of Madeira rockfish Scorpaena maderensis Valenciennes,1833 from the Tunisian coast (central Mediterranean). The specimens are described including morphometric ...measurements and meristic counts. The origin of the species in its new living area is discussed and commented. However, these new findings confirm the establishment of a viable population of S. maderensis in central Mediterranean.
Autori iznose prve zapise vrste bodečnjaka malog Scorpaena maderensis Valenciennes, 1833. s tuniske obale (središnji dio Sredozemlja). Opisani su uzorci, uključujući morfometrijska i meristička mjerenja. Razmatra se i raspravlja podrijetlo vrste u novom životnom okolišu. Ipak, ovi novi nalazi potvrđuju uspostavljanje održive populacije S. maderensis u središnjem dijelu Sredozemnog mora.
