We present a new limit on the production of a light dark-force mediator with the KLOE detector at DAΦNE. This boson, called U, has been searched for in the decay ϕ→ηU, U→e+e−, analyzing the decay ...η→π0π0π0 in a data sample of 1.7 fb−1. No structures are observed in the e+e− invariant mass distribution over the background. This search is combined with a previous result obtained from the decay η→π+π−π0, increasing the sensitivity. We set an upper limit at 90% C.L. on the ratio between the U boson coupling constant and the fine structure constant of α′/α<1.7×10−5 for 30<MU<400 MeV and α′/α⩽8×10−6 for the sub-region 50<MU<210 MeV. This result assumes the Vector Meson Dominance expectations for the ϕηγ⁎ transition form factor. The dependence of this limit on the transition form factor has also been studied.
•An operatorial approach to the cellular automaton game of life is applied.•A rigorous theoretical framework is defined in order to apply the (H, ρ)-induced dynamics.•Heisenberg picture is used to ...evolve the system before a set of rules is applied.•Spectral analysis is applied to our quantum variation of the game of life.•The differences between the game of life and our quantum variation are highlighted.
We propose an extended version of quantum dynamics for a certain system S, whose evolution is ruled by a Hamiltonian H, its initial conditions, and a suitable set ρ of rules, acting repeatedly on S. The resulting dynamics is not necessarily periodic or quasi-periodic, as one could imagine for conservative systems with a finite number of degrees of freedom. In fact, it may have quite different behaviors depending on the explicit forms of H, ρ as well as on the initial conditions. After a general discussion on this (H, ρ)-induced dynamics, we apply our general ideas to extend the classical game of life, and we analyze several aspects of this extension.
A novel control strategy to manage the integration of a wind turbine (WT) and an energy storage unit to an existing stand-alone microgrid servicing an oil and gas (O&G) rig is the topic of this ...paper. The control strategy includes a primary and a secondary controller that, using the battery in tandem with the WT, does not require any dump load (A). The secondary controller includes an energy management system (EMS) which uses the estimated wind production and other specific local information to size the battery to avoid the curtailment of the WT (B) and simultaneously provide the framework for the economic analysis (C). Points A, B and C are the main novelties introduced with this work. Additionally, a primary controller operates the original microgrid source, a gas turbine (GT), at its maximum efficiency through an active power control strategy to lower fuel consumption, by prioritizing the exploitation of the renewable energy source through the combination EMS and battery sizing. The microgrid is simulated and the combined controller of the battery and GT bench-tested.

This study aims to evaluate the epidemiological and molecular features associated with HAV transmission in adults in Rio de Janeiro during a period of increased registered cases of HAV (2017-2018). ...Socio-epidemiological data and serum samples from anti-HAV IgM+ individuals were obtained. HAV RNA was RT-PCR amplified and sequenced for further phylogenetic and phylogeographic analyses. From fifty-two HAV IgM+ individuals, most were men (78.85%;
= 0.024), aged 20-30 years old (84.61%;
< 0.001), resided in the Rio de Janeiro north zone (31/52; 59.62%;
= 0.001), and are men who have sex with men (MSM) (57.69%;
= 0.002). Sexual practices were more frequent (96%) than others risk factors (food-borne (44%), water-borne (42.31%), and parenteral (34.62%)). Individuals who traveled to endemic regions had a 7.19-fold (1.93-36.04;
< 0.01) increased risk of HAV. Phylogenetic analysis revealed four distinct clades of subgenotype IA, three of them comprised sequences from European/Asian MSM outbreaks and one from Brazilian endemic strains. Bayesian Inference showed that the imported strains were introduced to Brazil during large mass sportive events. Sexual orientation and sexual practices may play a role in acquiring HAV infection. Public policies targeting key populations must be implemented to prevent further dissemination of HAV and other STIs.
Starters are widely used for driving food fermentations faster and more safely. Recently, the use of natural autochthonous microbiota is being reappraised for obtaining products with peculiar and ...unique characteristics. The aim of this study was to investigate, by DGGE and REP-PCR(GTG)5, the microbial dynamics and intra-species biodiversity of Tonda di Cagliari table olives inoculated with a mix of autochthonous Lactobacillus pentosus strains (SIE) or a single Lactobacillus plantarum strain (SSL), taking spontaneous fermentation (NF) as control. Furthermore, the sensory quality of the three fermentations trials was evaluated by Descriptive Analysis. Among 316 isolates, 289 were identified as Lactobacillus pentosus, and only 31, coming exclusively from batches SSL, as Lactobacillus plantarum. The predominance of L. pentosus can be explained by their better adaptation to the olive fermentation environment with respect to L. plantarum selected strain inoculated in SSL fermentations. Using the culture independent approaches, differences in the fermentation processes were shown only during the first months of fermentation, and several Gram negative species, not frequently isolated in these ecosystems (Thalassomonas agarivorans, non-fermentative bacteria, and the cyanobacteria Chroococcidiopsis), were identified. Autochthonous starter SIE, compared to SSL, produced olives more similar, in sensory attributes, to the naturally fermented ones.
•L. pentosus confirmed to be a very competitive species in table olive fermentations.•Autochthonous strains were able to overcome the L. plantarum monostrain starter.•Autochthonous starter produced table olives with good and constant quality.•DGGE detected Gram negative species, not frequently isolated in table olives.•Autochthonous starter produced same sensory quality as natural traditional table olives in a shorter time.

differential cross sections and recoil polarisation data from threshold for extremely forward angles are presented. The measurements were performed at the BGOOD experiment at ELSA, ...utilising the high angular and momentum resolution forward spectrometer for charged particle identification. The high statistics and forward angle acceptance enables the extraction of the cross section as the minimum momentum transfer to the recoiling hyperon is approached.
