An instrument to measure job-related traits was developed and adapted to a Portuguese sample. This inventory, an adaptation of items from the International Personality Item Pool (Goldberg et al., ...2006), measures a set of work-related facets over two studies (N = 437). Given the challenges in translating and adapting words and idioms from English to Portuguese, the focus was to ensure the scale remained gender-neutral and that its psychometric quality was enhanced. The findings validated 16 work-related personality scales under a three-factor structure, suggesting a new theoretical model for work-related personality traits in the Portuguese language and professional context. This research underscores the importance of exploring personality in the workplace, particularly within the Portuguese context with its distinct cultural nuances.
Yellow fever is a vector-borne disease in sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America regions which is preventable by an effective and safe vaccine. In some cases, it may cause serious adverse ...effects and should therefore be prescribed only to individuals at risk of exposure to the yellow fever virus or those traveling to countries requiring proof of vaccination. The aim of this study was to analyze the prescriptions of yellow fever vaccine, based on travel destination and type of referring consultation, according to the international recommendations of the World Health Organization.
The database of the International Vaccination Centre of the International Vaccination Centre of the Loures-Odivelas Health Centre Group was used to analyze data concerning the year of 2016. Travelers who were prescribed and administered the yellow fever vaccine were grouped based on travel destination and type of referring consultation (travelers' medical consultations or non-specialist consultations).
A total of 517 yellow fever vaccines were administered, with the highest proportion in female (53%) and in individuals aged 40 - 49 years (20.7%). One hundred and thirteen (22.6%) of the 499 individuals with known-destinations were travelling to non-endemic/non-epidemic countries and a greater proportion of those were prescribed in non-specialist consultations (27.3%) than in travel medicine consultations (8.8%).
The highest percentage of yellow fever vaccines that were administered to individuals travelling to non-endemic/non-epidemic countries were prescribed in non-specialist consultations.
The present study provides the first record of an isopod parasite (Artystone trysibia) on Caquetaia spectabilis, a cichlid from the eastern Amazon collected in the State of Amapá, northern Brazil. In ...May 2018, specimens of C. spectabilis were collected in the lower Jari River, and 33.3% were parasitized by A. trysibia on the tegument tissue between pelvic fins. No hemorrhage or injury signals were observed in the tegument of the host. This study also expanded the distribution of A. trysibia to the eastern Amazon.
A presente dissertação tem como objetivo estudar o efeito da alavancagem financeira no desempenho financeiro e no desempenho desportivo das SAD´s de futebol portuguesas. Nesse sentido, para medir o ...desempenho financeiro foi usada a ROA e, para medir o desempenho desportivo, foi calculado um índice de performancedesportiva.A amostra usada no estudo foi composta pelas 4 SAD´s portuguesas que têm monopolizado o futebol português nas últimas décadas. A recolha de dados foi realizada para o período compreendido entre as épocas desportivas de 2007/2008 e 2021/2022 e foi utilizada a metodologia de dados em painel.Os resultados demonstraram que a alavancagem financeira não influencia o desempenho desportivo, apenas os proveitos operacionais mostraram ter uma influência significativa e positiva no desempenho desportivo. No caso do impacto da alavancagem financeira no desempenho financeiro, comprovou-se um impacto negativo e estatisticamente significativo. No sentido contrário, as variáveis referentes aos proveitos operacionais e ao balanço de transferências revelam ter um impacto significativo e estatisticamente positivo no desempenho financeiro das SAD´s.Desta forma, a presente dissertação visa contribuir empiricamente para o enriquecimento da literatura que aborda a importância e o impacto da alavancagem financeira no mundo futebolístico, uma vez que é um tema atual, que possui pouca literatura na área, tanto a nível nacional como internacional.
•Glasses were prepared using tungsten mine tailings.•The wastes tested were suitable for the manufacture of commercial glass.•The obtained glasses retains the potentially toxic elements.
Glasses from ...different types of tungsten mine tailings were obtained and studied to determine their ability to be used as raw materials of commercial glass. Tailings of granitic composition from Barruecopardo, of calc-silicate wastes from Morille, and of schists and quartz from Panasqueira, were used as raw materials. The addition of CaCO3 and NaCO3 was necessary for the manufacture of the glass. Samples were characterised by XRF, XRD, HSM and DTA-TG. Furthermore, the expansion coefficient, Vickers microhardness and leaching properties were measured. The results show that all the tungsten mine tailings used were suitable for the manufacture of commercial glass, with the addition of calcium and soda. The calc-silicate tailing needs less additive content to produce a glass. Also, they present lower workability temperatures and higher durability. Glasses obtained from all the tested tailings retain the potentially toxic elements in their structure and prevents the environmental pollution.
This study investigated changes in the complexity （magnitude and structure of variability） of the collective behaviours of association football teams during competitive performance. Raw positional ...data from an entire competitive match between two professional teams were obtained with the ProZone tracking system. Five compound positional variables were used to investigate the collective patterns of performance of each team including： surface and geometrical centre. Analyses involve the coefficient （ApEn）, as well as the linear association between both area, stretch index, team length, team width, of variation （%CV） and approximate entropy parameters. Collective measures successfully captured the idiosyncratic behaviours of each team and their variations across the six time periods of the match. Key events such as goals scored and game breaks （such as half time and full time） seemed to influence the collective patterns of performance. While ApEn values significantly decreased during each half, the %CV increased. Teams seem to become more regular and predictable, but with increased magnitudes of variation in their organisational shape over the natural course of a match.
As doenças cardiovasculares representaram 33% dos óbitos registados em todo o mundo no ano de 2019. Esta situação, juntamente com a ausência de sintomas evidentes, torna o diagnóstico precoce dessas ...condições consideravelmente mais complexo do que o habitual. Assim, anualmente são conduzidos vários estudos com o objetivo eficaz de detetar essas doenças antes que se tornem problemáticas.Esta dissertação tem como propósito avaliar a capacidade de construir um modelo de aprendizagem profunda capaz de classificar os sons cardíacos de um paciente como normais ou anormais. Para alcançar este objetivo, utilizou-se o conjunto de dados do concurso George B. Moody PhysioNet Challenge para treinar modelos para a resolução do problema em questão.Foram propostas duas abordagens distintas que se distinguem pela forma de construção dos modelos a serem utilizados. Na primeira abordagem, é criado um modelo de classificação para cada ponto de auscultação do coração, sendo a classificação final determinada com base em vários modelos. Já a segunda abordagem propõe a construção de um único modelo que recebe um segmento de áudio de cada ponto de auscultação e fornece uma classificação final do estado do paciente.Em ambas as abordagens, foram aplicadas diferentes segmentações às amostras de áudio utilizadas, foram extraídas caraterísticas de espetrogramas de mel e MFCC, e foram utilizados diversos algoritmos de aprendizagem foram empregues, nomeadamente algoritmos de aprendizagem profunda.A melhor performance foi alcançada com a aplicação da primeira abordagem, obtendo um overall accuracy de 77.36% e um F1-Score de 62.22%. Este estudo acaba por fundamentar um ponto de progresso na resolução deste tipo de problema, demonstrando a viabilidade da utilização de aprendizagem profunda no seu percurso.

O SARS-CoV-2 é um vírus RNA de fita simples, pertencente à subclasse beta dos Coronavírus.Este vírus apresenta ampla capacidade de mutação e recombinação rápida, e despertou a atenção do mundo em ...dezembro de 2019, com o alarmante número de casos em Wuhan, na China, e, desde março de 2020, causou o alerta mundial quando a ONU declarou a COVID-19, infecção a ele associada, uma pandemia global.MÉTODOS: Foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica integrativa usando os descritores covid-19, SARS-CoV-2, hipercoagulação edoenças cardiovascularesnos últimos 2 anos em base de dados como Medline, Lilacs, Scielo e UpToDate. RESULTADOS: Essa busca resultou em 15 artigos para elaboração dessa revisão. CONCLUSÃO:O efeito cardiovascular pode ser fruto de lesão direta à célula miocárdica pela própria patogenia viral e pode ser também de maneira indireta através dos efeitos sistêmicos da ‘tempestade inflamatória’; além disso o efeito inflamatório leva a um estado pró-trombótico que, junto ao aumento do estresse do cisalhamento sanguíneo devido ao maior aporte sanguíneo ao coração, pode fazer com que haja ruptura de placa aterosclerótica, tendo como última consequência o infarto agudo do miocárdio. Por fim, é preciso considerar, também, que a própria terapêutica da doença emprega medicamentos que podem levar a danos no sistema cardiovascular e, não menos importante, o processo infeccioso pode levar a desequilíbrio eletrolítico que pode gerar distúrbios cardiovasculares, como por exemplo a hipocalemia, que pode acarretar em arritmia.
Big Data is, nowadays, regarded as a tool for improving the healthcare sector in many areas, such as in its economic side, by trying to search for operational efficiency gaps, and in personalised ...treatment, by selecting the best drug for the patient, for instance. Data science can play a key role in identifying diseases in an early stage, or even when there are no signs of it, track its progress, quickly identify the efficacy of treatments and suggest alternative ones. Therefore, the prevention side of healthcare can be enhanced with the usage of state-of-the-art predictive big data analytics and machine learning methods, integrating the available, complex, heterogeneous, yet sparse, data from multiple sources, towards a better disease and pathology patterns identification. It can be applied for the diagnostic challenging neurodegenerative disorders; the identification of the patterns that trigger those disorders can make possible to identify more risk factors, biomarkers, in every human being. With that, we can improve the effectiveness of the medical interventions, helping people to stay healthy and active for a longer period. In this work, a review of the state of science about predictive big data analytics is done, concerning its application to Alzheimer’s Disease early diagnosis. It is done by searching and summarising the scientific articles published in respectable online sources, putting together all the information that is spread out in the world wide web, with the goal of enhancing knowledge management and collaboration practices about the topic. Furthermore, an interactive data visualisation tool to better manage and identify the scientific articles is develop, delivering, in this way, a holistic visual overview of the developments done in the important field of Alzheimer’s Disease diagnosis.
