NA44 has measured proton and deuteron distributions from
SS and
SPb collisions at 200 GeV/
c and
PbPb collisions at 158 GeV/
c. The mean
p
T
of both protons and deuterons grows with system size but ...the deuterons are somewhat slower than the protons. The phase space density of protons falls with
m
T
but increases for larger systems. The phase space density of
p̄s is much lower than of protons while their average freeze-out radii are similar. The proton source size increases with system size but not as rapidly as the pion source. For
PbPb collisions, all radii lie on a single curve.
In the experiment, forage from the 1st cut of meadow grasses mown at the heading stage of dominant grasses was ensiled. The control silages were made from fresh forage and wilted forage. The ...experimental silages were made from fresh forages supplemented with a 5% water solution of lactic acid (0.5 and 0.7 l/100 kg of forage) and 8% water solution of lactic acid (0.4 and 0.6 l/100 kg of forage). The highest contents of crude protein, water-soluble carbohydrates and energy were found in silages supplemented with 5% lactic acid applied at 0.7 l/100 kg of forage and in silages supplemented with 8% lactic acid applied at 0.6 l/100 kg of forage. The above silage variants were also characterized by the lowest content of NH3-N in total-N, butyric acid and acetic acid, as well as the highest contents of lactic acid and the best indicators of fermentation quality. No important differences were found between silages made from wilted forage and silages made with lactic acid supplement.

The effect of different genotypes, sires and season on age at slaughtering, mass of warm carcass sides, fat thickness measured on three points (withers, back, rump) and percentage of meat in warm ...carcass sides of average mass of 74.17 kg using Yugoslav standard method was investigated. Results obtained show that investigated traits had no variation between pigs of different genotype (P is greater than 0.05). Sires effected variation of age at slaughtering, fat thickness (withers, back, rump, back + rump) and percentage of meat in warm carcass sides of offspring (P is less than 0.01). Slaughter season effected fat thickness measured on withers (P is less than 0.01) and age at slaughtering (P is less than 0.05). Age, fat thickness and percentage of meat depended on the mass of warm carcass sides. Evaluated heritability coefficients for investigated traits were in interval of medium to high.

Recent results from test measurements with cosmic rays of jet-cell chamber prototypes, developed and studied for the μ detector of the ATLAS apparatus, are reported.
Using a set of hydrodynamical simulations of 62 galaxy clusters and groups we study the ICM of inhomogeneities, focusing on the ones on the large scale that, unlike clumps, are the most difficult to ...identify. To this purpose we introduce the concept of residual clumpiness, C_R, that quantifies the large-scale inhomogeneity of the ICM. After showing that this quantity can be robustly defined for relaxed systems, we characterize how it varies with radius, mass and dynamical state of the halo. Most importantly, we observe that it introduces an overestimate in the determination of the density profile from the X-ray emission, which translates into a systematic overestimate of 6 (12)% in the measurement of M_gas at R_200 for our relaxed (perturbed) cluster sample. At the same time, the increase of C_R with radius introduces also a ~2% systematic underestimate in the measurement of the hydrostatic-equilibrium mass (M_he), which adds to the previous one generating a systematic ~8.5% overestimate in f_gas in our relaxed sample. Since the residual clumpiness of the ICM is not directly observable, we study its correlation with the azimuthal scatter in the X-ray surface brightness of the halo and in the y-parameter profiles. We find that their correlation is highly significant (r_S = 0.6-0.7), allowing to define the azimuthal scatter measured in the X-ray surface brightness profile and in the y-parameter as robust proxies of C_R. After providing a function that connects the two quantities, we obtain that correcting the observed gas density profiles using the azimuthal scatter eliminates the bias in the measurement of M_gas for relaxed objects, which becomes (0+/-2)% up to 2R_200, and reduces it by a factor of 3 for perturbed ones. This method allows also to eliminate the systematics on the measurements of M_he and f_gas, although a significant halo to halo scatter remains. (abridged)
In order to investigate the effect of age of fatteners at slaughtering on quality of carcass sides, investigation in 115 fatteners of Swedish Landrace breed were carried out. Highly significant (**P ...is less than 0.01) effect of age of fatteners at slaughtering on quality of carcass sides was established. Considering the negative sign with the coefficient b, we can conclude that the negative regression of age on quality of carcass sides was obserbed. The oldest fatteners (greater than 260 days) had the highest carcass sides (65.218 kg) which has no economical justification. Therefore, justification for prolonged fattening of pigs of investigated genotype needs to be reconsidered considering different quality of carcass sides of certain age groups.

pA and 200 GeV/c per nucleon SA collisions are presented. Inverse slope parameters are extracted from the ...transverse mass spectra, and examined for indications of collective phenomena. Proton and antiproton yields are determined for different projectile-target combinations. First results from 160 GeV/c per nucleon PbPb collisions are presented.
