This research analyzed the motivating and demotivating factors amongst employees in a wood processing and furniture manufacturing company. Research was conducted over the year 2010, during the time ...of a full economic crisis and before the restructuring of the company was done. Analysis also was conducted in 2014, during the beginning of the economic recovery and after the restructuring of the company. Research was conducted with a survey using a questionnaire containing six questions with multiple choice statements. The questions were closed-ended, and respondents used the Likert four-level scale of importance for each statement. A total of 180 employees were surveyed, and results were statistically processed by using the χ2- test and cluster analysis. This study established that the motivation factors most important to employees in a company are significantly different during the time of an economic crisis, and in the period of economic recovery, i.e. before and after restructuring of the company. Employees were most concerned about physiological needs in the time of a crisis, whereas in the time of an economic recovery, employees consider social needs to be of more importance. Also, employees consider psychological circumstances of work to be more important in the year 2014 than in the year 2010. Employees’ overall motivation can be linked to higher efficiency and higher quality production and business results, and such research should be conducted more often.

This article presents the analysis of the production costs of hardwood elements produced by computer aided technology of rip-cross sawing with pre-planing of sawn boards. In this procedure, sawn wood ...is planed prior to sawing to calibrate the thickness of sawn elements and to make wood defects more visible on the surface. Preplaning contributes to more successful further processing of the sawn elements. The costs of production technology of pre-planed sawn elements were compared with the costs of the classic cross-rip production technology of sawn elements and with the costs of computer aided rip-cross production technology without pre-planing. Research results show that computer aided production technology with pre-planing of sawn elements gives the best productivity, the lowest consumption of electricity per product unit, the best control of the number of produced elements, and the best utilization of sawn wood since the quality is defi ned by using wood scanners. Further to the above, it can be concluded that better results are achieved by computer aided technology with pre-planing than by two other researched technologies. The disadvantage of this technology is the starting investment, since the price of this technology is significantly higher than that of other two researched technologies. This research should help investors in decision making process when choosing between different technologies of wood element production.
U ovom su radu analizirani troškovi proizvodnje elemenata od drva tvrdih listača računalno vođenom tehnologijom uzdužno-poprečnog načina piljenja s predblanjanjem piljenica. Tim se postupkom ...prosušene piljenice prije raspiljivanja blanjaju kako bi se kalibrirala njihova debljina i da bi greške drva na njihovoj površini postale vidljivije. Predblanjanje pridonosi njihovoj uspješnijoj daljnjoj obradi. Troškovi tehnologije izrade drvnih elemenata predblanjanjem uspoređeni su s troškovima njihove izrade uobičajenom klasičnom tehnologijom poprečno-uzdužnog načina izrade drvnih elemenata te računalo vođenom tehnologijom uzdužno-poprečnog načina piljenja bez predblanjanja. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da se računalno vođenom tehnologijom s predblanjanjem piljenica postiže najbolja produktivnost i troši najmanje električne energije po jedinici proizvoda, najbolje se kontrolira broj izrađenih komada te postiže najbolje iskorištenje piljenica jer se njihova kvaliteta određuje uz pomoć skenera za drvo. Iz navedenoga se može zaključiti da računalno vođena tehnologija s predblanjanjem daje bolje rezultate od druga dva načina izrade drvnih elemenata. Početna investicija za tu tehnologiju znatno je veća od ulaganja u druge dvije istraživane tehnologije. Ovo bi istraživanje trebalo pomoći investitorima pri donošenju odluke za koju se tehnologiju izrade elemenata odlučiti.

Tim se postupkom prosusene piljenice prije raspiljivanja blanjaju kako bi se kalibrirala njihova debljina i da bi greske drva na njihovoj povrsini postale vidljivije. Predblanjanje pridonosi njihovoj uspjesnijoj daljnjoj obradi. Troskovi tehnologije izrade drvnih elemenata predblanjanjem usporedeni su s troskovima njihove izrade uobicajenom klasicnom tehnologijom poprecno-uzduznog nacina izrade drvnih elemenata te racunalo vodenom tehnologijom uzduzno-poprecnog nacina piljenja bez predblanjanja. Rezultati istrazivanja pokazuju da se racunalno vodenom tehnologijom s predblanjanjem piljenica postize najbolja produktivnost i trosi najmanje elektricne energije po jedinici proizvoda, najbolje se kontrolira broj izradenih komada te postize najbolje iskoristenje piljenica jer se njihova kvaliteta odreduje uz pomoc skenera za drvo. Iz navedenoga se moze zakljuciti da racunalno vodena tehnologija s predblanjanjem daje bolje rezultate od druga dva nacina izrade drvnih elemenata. Pocetna investicija za tu tehnologiju znatno je veca od ulaganja u druge dvije istrazivane tehnologije. Pri upravljanju ljudskim potencijalima u tvrtkama važnu ulogu igra motiviranost zaposlenika za postizanjem kvalitetnih rezultata proizvodnog procesa. Mnoge su se tvrtke susrele s tim problemom od prelaska na tržišno gospodarstvo naovamo i pokušavaju ga riješiti na različite načine. Na motiviranost zaposlenika utjecaj imaju različiti motivirajući čimbenici. U današnjoj poduzetničkoj praksi motivacija i motivirajući čimbenici često su podcijenjeni i njima se pri upravljanju ljudskim potencijalima malo bave.
Cilj ovog istraživanja je analizirati različite motivirajuće čimbenike za pojedine skupine zaposlenika u tvrtkama prerade drva i proizvodnje namještaja, odrediti njihov utjecaj na učinkovitost proizvodnog i poslovnog procesa. Na temelju problematike istraživanja utvrđeno je trenutno stanje motivacije i stimulacije, postojeća sistematizacija, organizacija i sustav vrednovanja u poduzećima za preradu drva i proizvodnju namještaja. Na osnovu toga je uspostavljen model sustava motivacije i stimulacije u poduzeću za preradu drva, kojim se omogućuje djelotvornije motiviranje zaposlenika na kvalitetniji i učinkovitiji rad.
Za potrebe ovog istraživanja, zbog strukture postavljenih pitanja i ocjene odgovora na njih, kao najpogodnija metoda prikupljanja podataka izabrana je metoda strukturiranog (anketnog) intervjua. Zbog usporedbe rezultata i modela sustava motivacije u promatranom poduzeću, preuzeti su anketni upitnici inicijalnog istraživanja provedenog u osnovnom poligonu istraživanja. Podaci su analizirani pomoću metoda, deskriptivne statistike, χ^2-testa i klaster analize. Od metoda deskriptivne statistike korištene su distribucija frekvencija i izračunavanja srednje vrijednosti.Za klaster analizu koristi se hijerarhijska veza poznata kao analiza najbližih susjeda. U ovoj analizi udaljenost između dva klastera određuje udaljenost dviju najbližih objekata unutar različitih grupa D (CiUCj, CK) = min. (D (C, Ck), d (Cj, Ck)).
Rezultati istraživanja potvrđuju prvu postavljenu hipotezu da trenutni sustavi motivacije i stimulacije nisu dovoljno kvalitetno postavljeni da motiviraju zaposlenike na kvalitetan rad. Druga hipoteza je također potvrđena jer se po novom modelu sustava motivacije i stimulacije zaposlenika menadžment lakše može organizirati proizvodnju i prilagoditi se zahtjevnom svjetskom tržištu. Ovako jednostavniji i fleksibilniji model upravljanja menadžmentu poduzeća omogućuje i u ovako relativno velikim sustavima kao što je osnovni poligon prilagodbu zahtjevima tržišta,gdje su sve manje serije proizvoda i traži se brža mogućnost promjena proizvodnog programa.
Ovakvo istraživanje u poduzećima bi trebalo provoditi svakih nekoliko godina kako bi model sustava motivacije i stimulacije, odnosno upravljanja ljudskim potencijalima bio što učinkovitiji i prilagođeniji trenutnim uvjetima proizvodnje i poslovanja u poduzeću.- Quality presentation of wood processing and furniture manufacturing companies of Croatia on international market, beside quality and recognizable design, requests for production results based on interest of employees to do their work on time and in quantities as in quality required. In human resource management in companies, employees motivation to achieve quality results of production process plays important role. Many companies met that problem since transfered to market economy and they try to solve it in different ways. Different motivation factors have influence on employees motivation. In nowadays business practice motivation and motivation factors are often underestimated and they are not dealth with enough within human resource management.
The goal of this research was to analyze different motivation factors for particular groups of employees in companies for wood processing and furniture manufacturing, and to establish their influence on efficiency of production and business processes. Based on the research problem it is established that current situation of motivation and stimulation, existing systematisation of work places, organisation and work evaluation system in companies for wood processing and furniture manufacturing. According to that, the model of motivation and stimulation system in wood processing company is created, which enables more efficient motivation of employees to work in more quality and more efficient way.
For purposes of this research, because of the structure of asked questions and marks in answers given, as most appropriate method of collecting data, the method of structural (survey) interview was chosen. To compare results and models of motivation system in research company, survey questionnaires of initial research conducted in research poligon were used. Collected data were analyzed by methods of descriptive statistics, χ^2-test and cluster analysis. Distribution of frequencies and average values are methods of dectiptive statistics that were used. For cluster analysis, hierarchy connections known as analysis of closest neighbours was used. In that analysis the distance between two clusters defines the distance between two closest objects within research groups D (CiUCj, CK) = min. (D (C, Ck), d (Cj, Ck)).
Results of the research confirm the first hypothesis that current motivation and stimulation systems are not set quality enough to motivate employees to quality work. Second hypothesis was also confirmed because the use new model of motivation and stimulation system enables company management to organize production easier and to adapt to demanding world market. This way more simple and more flexible model of managing enables company management that in this, relatively big systems such as research poligon, adaptation to market demands, where production series are smaller and smaller, and where quicker possibility to change production program is required.

Consumers often tend to use brand name as a basis for making inferences about product. The brand name also serves as a signal for product quality, even in a multiattribute context quality. In this ...paper influence of brand name on consumer sensory perception of products is investigated. Eight different markets products (Coca Cola, Pepsi, Milka, Dorina, Jamnica, Tešanjski dijamant, Franck chips and Goldy chips) are sensory evaluated by the group consisting of 60 assessors (females / males, aged from 12–60 years). The method of ranging by 5-point scheme is applied. Assessors evaluated all samples in two sessions. In the booth sessions all products were coded but in first session the product were visible and the assessors knew what the products they evaluated are. In the second session, the products were invisible and the assessors did not know which products they evaluated. Results of sensory analysis were statistical analyzed by t-test. The results shows the assessors perceive sensory quality of products differently depending on whether they were coded or not. Statistically significant impact of brand (p=0,05) is recorded by Coca Cola, where average higher grades assigned to the samples in a session when the judges know what they are judged. For the Franck chips were statistically significantly higher average grade assigned in the case when the samples were masked.
