Using instrumental neutron activation analysis with both short- and long-time irradiations, we determined up to 38 elements in polymers used in cables for new nuclear power plants (NPP) generation ...and for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Contrary to our previous work concerning the element contents in polymers presently used in several NPP, the values found in new cables for NPP were mostly below maximum allowable contents set by European regulations. In case of cables for LHC, several trials were needed to obtain a cable, whose polymer materials satisfied the requirement of an international guide on halogen-free composition.

We project the performance of the ATLAS liquid argon endcap and forward calorimeters at the planned high luminosity LHC option HL-LHC by exposing small calorimeter modules of the electromagnetic, ...hadronic, and forward calorimeters to high intensity beams at IHEP/Protvino. The beam intensity extends well beyond the maximum expected for these calorimeters at HL-LHC. The signal reconstruction and calorimeter performance have been studied in full detail.

This paper describes parameters of the proton beams provided by the U-120M cyclotron and the related irradiation setup at the open access irradiation facility at the Nuclear Physics Institute of the ...Czech Academy of Sciences. The facility is suitable for testing radiation hardness of various electronic components. The use of the setup is illustrated by a measurement of an error rate for errors caused by Single Event Transients in an SRAM-based Xilinx XC3S200 FPGA. This measurement provides an estimate of a possible occurrence of Single Event Transients. Data suggest that the variation of error rate of the Single Event Effects for different clock phase shifts is not significant enough to use clock phase alignment with the beam as a fault mitigation technique.
A measurement is presented of the inclusive neutral current e±p scattering cross section using data collected by the H1 experiment at HERA during the years 2003 to 2007 with proton beam energies Ep ...of 920, 575, and 460 GeV. The kinematic range of the measurement covers low absolute four-momentum transfers squared, 1.5 GeV2<Q2<120 GeV2, small values of Bjorken x, 2.9⋅10−5<x<0.01, and extends to high inelasticity up to y=0.85. The structure function FL is measured by combining the new results with previously published H1 data at Ep=920 GeV and Ep=820 GeV. The new measurements are used to test several phenomenological and QCD models applicable in this low Q2 and low x kinematic domain.
