The development of independence in Botswana was founded on the following three political pillars: (1) rapid and sustained economic growth; (2) multi-party or liberal democracy; and (3) an efficient ...central state. There have been few scenarios of government mismanagement, and limited points of corruption. Since 1991, this high reputation for good government crumbled due to a series of scandals. The makeup and effects of these scandals, as well as unsound decisions that have occurred in the process of solving them are examined.
