OBJECTIVETo explore the molecular mechanism for weakened expression of ABO blood group antigens in 20 cases.METHODSBlood samples were collected from 20 cases with weakened expression of ABO blood ...group antigens, including 12 children undergoing elective surgery and 8 of their parents or grandparents. Serological identification of the ABO blood group was performed using microcolumn agglutination method and saline test tube method. The PCR products of exons 1-7 and their upstream promoter region of the ABO gene were directly sequenced for genotyping.RESULTSIn 11 of the cases, the ABO genotype could be determined by pedigree analysis (including 1 case of ABO*A2.01/ABO*B.01, 1 case of ABO*A2.01/ ABO*O01.01, 1 case of A1.02/B3.04, 2 cases of B3.04/O.01.01, 2 cases of B3.02/O.01.02, and 4 cases of Bw.12/O.01.01). Pedigree analysis revealed deletion mutation at -35_-18 nt in the ABO promoter region in 3 cases, indicating that the mutation occurred in the B allele; a C > T mutation occurred at -119 nt in the ABO prom
To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of retroperitoneoscopic donor nephrectomy in elderly donors for renal transplantation.
A retrospective analysis was conducted with 123 cases of ...retroperitoneoscopic living donor kidney transplantation in 309th Hospital of PLA from March 2011 to March 2014, including 44 elderly donors (age≥55 years) and 79 young to middle-aged donors (age <55 years). Comparisons were made in terms of postoperative complications in both donors and recipients, renal function recovery in the donors and function of graft in the recipients.
The clinical baseline data of the two groups shows that glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of donors in the elderly donor group was lower than the young donor group (P=0.04). The 123 donors all underwent retroperitoneoscopic donor nephrectomy successfully. Postoperative complications in donors and recipients of both groups had no significant differences (P=0.60; P=1.00). In the elderly donor group, the mean serum creatinine level of donors was significantly
To investigate the relationship between expression of PDGFRA/CMYC and clinicopathologic features of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma.
Fifty-four cases of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma were included in ...the study.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of CD20, CD2, CD3, CD56, TIA1, GrB, Ki-67, PDGFRA and CMYC.In situ hybridization was performed to detect the presence of EBV encoded small RNA (EBER). Fifty cases of nasopharyngeal mucosal lymphoid tissue hyperplasia were used as normal control.
Among 54 cases of ENKTL, CD2, CD3, GrB, and TIA1 were expressed in all the tumors. CD56 was expressed in 47 cases (81.0%) and CD20 was not detectable in any cases. Ki-67 proliferative index expression of > 60% was found in 45 cases (83.3%). In situ hybridization for EBER was positive in all cases (100%). The positive expression rates of PDGFRA and CMYC in extranodal NK/T-cell lymphomas were 51.9%(28/54) and 53.7%(29/54), respectively, much higher than those in nasopharyngeal mucosal lymphoid tissue hyperplasia
The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of partial pancreatectomy as part of primary cytoreductive surgery in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
A total of 8 patients were ...recruited in this study who underwent partial pancreatectomy during the primary cytoreductive surgeries for advanced EOC in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from April 2009 to July 2015. Their clinicopathological characteristics, diameter of metastatic tumors, the scope of cytoreductive surgeries, residual diseases after cytoreductive surgeries, postoperative complications and survival situation were retrospective analyzed.
(1) Clinicopathological characteristics: the median age of these patients was 58 years old (range: 39-63 years old) . The median value of preoperative serum CA125 was 1 688 kU/L (range: 119-5 000 kU/L) . The median diameter of metastatic tumors involved in pancreatic body or tail was 4.5 cm (range: 3-10 cm). All the tumors from the 8 patients were confirmed to be high-grade serous carci
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter-related infection (i.e. exit-site infection and tunnel infection) is one of the main causes of PD-related peritonitis. If it cannot be controlled effectively, it ...could lead to PD technique failure. Therefore, timely and effective diagnosis and treatment and active prevention so as to reduce PD catheter-related infection is an important treatment goal in PD patients. PD catheter exit-site infection (ESI) and tunnel infection can be caused by a variety of microorganisms, mainly bacteria, while fungi are very rare. Few public data can be used to guide treatment of PD catheter-related fungal infection, and there is no related report in China till now. Once fungal peritonitis occurred, the patient can only withdraw from PD treatment. Here, we report a case of fungal PD catheter ESI combined with tunnel infection which was successfully diagnosed and treated in our PD center. A 71-year-old woman came to clinic because of "PD for 5 years, secretions from exit site for 8 days and aggr
Sepsis is a severe life-threatening syndrome characterized by an abnormal host response to infection that can rapidly evolve into septic shock and multiple organ failure. Treatment of sepsis depends ...on early identification and diagnosis as well as adequate and timely anti-infection and multi-organ functional support. In recent years, pancreatic stone protein has been widely studied as a new biomarker for sepsis. Existing evidence shows that compared with the commonly used inflammatory markers in clinical practice, pancreatic stone protein has higher sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of sepsis. It enables the early diagnosis of sepsis and assessment of the severity of septic patients to a certain extent. This article reviews the characteristics, biological functions, diagnostic features, and clinical application of pancreatic stone protein.
Oxygen plays an important role in the process of wound healing. Researches have shown that more than 97% of chronic wounds are in a state of hypoxia, which is one of the key factors resulting in ...refractory wounds. Local oxygen therapy is a treatment method that can directly provide oxygen to wounds without relying on the damaged vascular system. It can effectively promote chronic wounds healing by transmitting sufficient oxygen to wounds through specific devices or preparations. Hemoglobin spray is a new form of local oxygen therapy, which has the advantages of good effect, simple operation, and low cost. This article reviews the development, component, safety, oxygen supply principle, and application methods of hemoglobin spray and its effects in the treatment of chronic wounds, so as to provide a new direction for the treatment of chronic wounds.
