The diatom composition on some Charophyceae taxa was investigated in different freshwater ecosystems in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro during 2007. A total of 91 taxa belonging to 37 ...genera were identified. The genus Gomphonema with 9 taxa was the most diverse, followed by Navicula (7), Nitzschia, Pinnularia and Gyrosigma (5). The number of taxa at the localities varied from nine in Lake Kalajli on Bjelanica Mountain to 33 in the Trebiat River (both in Bosnia and Herzegovina). The most frequent taxa (found in more than three localities) were: Amphora ovalis, Cocconeis placentula, Gomphonema coronatum, Melosira varians, Navicula tripunctata, N. radiosa and Ulnaria oxyrhynchus. In total, 52 taxa appeared only in one particular locality.
American plant species Erigeron karvinskianus DC. was recorded on the walls of the city of Dubrovnik, South Croatia, in April 2013. It is found within the Linario-Erigeronetum mucronati Segal 1969 ...plant association (the class Parietarietea judaicae Oberdorfer 1977). Plant species and association have been recorded outside cultivation for the first time in Croatia.

The flora and vegetation of three small islets with surface areas from 1.04 to 3.31 hectares, lying between the mainland and the Peljesac peninsula in south Croatia, were investigated in 2014 and ...2015. The floristic data have been used to analyze life-form and chorological spectra and to assess species area relationship, the occurrence of islet specialists and to assess the risk of alien plants invasion. Altogether, 126 vascular plant taxa (species and infraspecific units) were recorded on all the islets combined. The richest islet is Gospin Skoj with 72 taxa, followed by Srednjak (68) and Goljak (48). A total of five plant associations, one subassociation and two stands within five vegetation classes have been identified on the islets. Benthic cormophyte communities in the eulittoral and infralittoral zones are represented by Posidonietum oceanicae, Cymodocetum nodosae and Nanozosteretum noltii. The halophytic vegetation of the coastal rocks belongs to the proposed new subassociation Limonietum anfracti helichrysetosum italici. Shrubland vegetation was composed of the Myrto communis-Pistacietum lentisci and Oleo sylvestris-Pistacietum lentisci associations, macchia with Erica arborea and the Olea sylvestris-Narcissus tazetta community. Clear signs of the degradation of the macchia, due to the high anthropogenic influence, particularly the presence of European rabbit populations. have been observed.
A study of the Noah's Arks (Arca noae) was conducted in Mali Ston Bay, between November 2001 and November 2002. Noah's Arks were collected monthly for the analysis of the condition index (CI), and ...every 2 mo for biometric measurements. CI was related to seawater temperature, salinity, and chlorophyl a levels, which were measured every 2 wk. Throughout the study, 39% of the A. noae were >50 mm in size. Based on length frequency distribution, a modified Von Bertalanffy growth equation was constructed: L sub(t) = 79.19 1-e super(-0.34(t-t0)). Using the modal sizes estimated from the length frequency distributions, the estimated population growth rates of the shell were greater than the individual growth rates estimated from shell sections. Low values for the CI were recorded in December and January, and also in the period from July to October. The highest condition values were recorded from April until June.
Vegetacija i flora južnojadranskog otočića Badije (0,97 km2), smještenog u korčulanskom arhipelagu, istraživani su 2014. i 2015. Na temelju 52 fitocenološke snimke određeno je i opisano 12 ...floristički i ekološki različitih vegetacijskih zajednica (osam asocijacija, jedna subasocijacija i tri sastojine) u okviru devet vegetacijskih razreda. Među njima, asocijacija Teucrio capitati-Marrubietum incani Jasprica et Milović 2016 opisana je i predložena kao nova za znanost, a pripada vegetacijskom razredu Stellarietea mediae. Uvtrđeno je devet NATURA 2000 stanišnih tipova. Determinirano je 27 novih svojti (26 vrste i jedna podvrsta) vaskularnih biljaka za otočić, pa je ukupan broj svojti sada 409. Među novim svojtama, četiri su invazivne, jedna je zakonski strogo zaštićena. Po jedna svojta pripada kategorijama najmanje zabrinjavajućih (LC) i nedovoljno poznatim biljkama (DD).
