We determine the sensitivity to a possible variation of the proton-to-electron mass ratio \mu for torsion-wagging-rotation transitions in the ground state of methylamine (CH3NH2). Our calculation ...uses an effective Hamiltonian based on a high-barrier tunneling formalism combined with extended-group ideas. The \mu-dependence of the molecular parameters that are used in this model are derived and the most important ones of these are validated using the spectroscopic data of different isotopologues of methylamine. We find a significant enhancement of the sensitivity coefficients due to energy cancellations between internal rotational, overall rotational and inversion energy splittings. The sensitivity coefficients of the different transitions range from -19 to +24. The sensitivity coefficients of the 78.135, 79.008, and 89.956 GHz transitions that were recently observed in the disk of a z = 0.89 spiral galaxy located in front of the quasar PKS 1830-211 S. Muller et al. Astron. Astrophys. 535, A103 (2011) were calculated to be -0.87 for the first two and -1.4 for the third transition, respectively. From these transitions a preliminary upper limit for a variation of the proton to electron mass ratio of \Delta \mu/\mu< 9 x 10^{-6} is deduced.
A cDNA library was constructed using polyadenylated RNA from salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) Brockmann bodies, plasmid vector pBR322, and in vitro recombinant DNA techniques. Insulin-related clones were ...identified with a cDNA probe generated from the same RNA and enriched for insulin sequences. Two recombinants were shown to contain the nucleotide sequence of the entire coding region and parts of the 5' and 3' untranslated regions. The salmon preproinsulin mRNA is about 760 nucleotides long, 315 of which code for the protein, while about 190 and 200 nucleotides belong to the 5' and 3' flanking regions, respectively. Comparison of the nucleotide sequences of salmon insulin mRNA with those from other species reveals that sequence conservation is limited to the regions coding for the B and A peptides and two segments of the signal peptide. The C-peptide region exhibits no significant sequence homology with the C-peptides of other vertebrates. The 5' and 3' untranslated regions of the salmon preproinsulin mRNA are homologous only with the anglerfish mRNA, whereas there is no evident homology with those of birds and mammals. In addition to establishing the sequence of the preproinsulin mRNA, cloned salmon insulin cDNA provides a specific probe for the analysis and isolation of genomic DNA fragments containing insulin genes.
A high-performance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE) method is described for the quantitative determination of the anticancer drug prospidin in human tissue after its derivatization with ...diethyldithiocarbamic acid sodium salt (DDTC). It was found that absorption of prospidin and its derivatives on the capillary wall due to the strong positive charge in the drug molecules could be eliminated by increasing the methanol content in the run buffer up to 50% and increasing the pH value up to 11.2. While studying the conditions of the interaction between prospidin and DDTC, a molar excess of the latter of 1:9 and 1.5 h of reaction time were found to be enough for complete derivatization. Sample preparation included homogenization of freshly cut papilloma species and deproteinization by methanol addition. Detection was by ultraviolet (UV) absorption at 254 nm. Due to its speed and high performance in separation. Detection was by ultraviolet (UV) absorption at 254 mm. Due to its speed and high practice.
