Cancer is one of the most deadly diseases that annually kills millions of people worldwide. The investigation on anticancer medicines has never ceased to seek better and more adaptive agents with ...fewer side effects. Besides chemically synthetic anticancer compounds, natural products are scientifically proved as a highly potential alternative source for anticancer drug discovery. Along with experimental approaches being used to find anticancer drug candidates, computational approaches have been developed to virtually screen for potential anticancer compounds. In this study, we construct an ensemble computational framework, called iANP-EC, using machine learning approaches incorporated with evolutionary computation. Four learning algorithms (
-NN, SVM, RF, and XGB) and four molecular representation schemes are used to build a set of classifiers, among which the top-four best-performing classifiers are selected to form an ensemble classifier. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to optimise the weights used to combined the four top classifiers. The models are developed by a set of curated 997 compounds which are collected from the NPACT and CancerHSP databases. The results show that iANP-EC is a stable, robust, and effective framework that achieves an AUC-ROC value of 0.9193 and an AUC-PR value of 0.8366. The comparative analysis of molecular substructures between natural anticarcinogens and nonanticarcinogens partially unveils several key substructures that drive anticancerous activities. We also deploy the proposed ensemble model as an online web server with a user-friendly interface to support the research community in identifying natural products with anticancer activities.
Genicular nerve radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has recently gained popularity as an intervention for chronic knee pain in patients who have failed other conservative or surgical treatments. Long-term ...efficacy and adverse events are still largely unknown. Under fluoroscopic guidance, thermal RFA targets the lateral superior, medial superior, and medial inferior genicular nerves, which run in close proximity to the genicular arteries that play a crucial role in supplying the distal femur, knee joint, meniscus, and patella. RFA targets nerves by relying on bony landmarks, but fails to provide visualization of vascular structures. Although vascular injuries after genicular nerve RFA have not been reported, genicular vascular complications are well documented in the surgical literature. This article describes the anatomy, including detailed cadaveric dissections and schematic drawings, of the genicular neurovascular bundle. The present investigation also included a comprehensive literature review of genicular vascular injuries involving those arteries which lie near the targets of genicular nerve RFA. These adverse vascular events are documented in the literature as case reports. Of the 27 cases analyzed, 25.9% (7/27) involved the lateral superior genicular artery, 40.7% (11/27) involved the medial superior genicular artery, and 33.3% (9/27) involved the medial inferior genicular artery. Most often, these vascular injuries result in the formation of pseudoaneurysm, arteriovenous fistula (AVF), hemarthrosis, and/or osteonecrosis of the patella. Although rare, these complications carry significant morbidities. Based on the detailed dissections and review of the literature, our investigation suggests that vascular injury is a possible risk of genicular RFA. Lastly, recommendations are offered to minimize potential iatrogenic complications.
The aim of this research is to develop a GIS-based simulation for selecting the most suitable site of solid waste landfill which could help to minimize harmful impacts to the environment and society ...in the extreme sensitive and complex delta by an integration of geographic information system (GIS) and analysis hierarchy process (AHP) and nine criteria (distance from surface water; depth of ground water table; distance from residential area, land use, distance from main roads, geo-environmental and geotechnical characteristics, distance from historical and tourism sites, and distance from industrial zones). Different from most of the previous studies on the landfill site selection, geology-related criteria including soil types/lithology, soil permeability, and soil depth/soil thickness (soil-structure), which are called geo-environmental and geotechnical characteristics in this research, will be carefully considered, integrated, and evaluated. The AHP was employed to determine the weight of each criterion based on pair weight comparison and its matrix, while a land suitability index (LSI) score was calculated to determine the most suitable site. Moreover, the suitability map was also created which indicated very advantageous, advantageous, rather advantageous, and disadvantageous areas in the study area for landfill siting. Finally, the developed model could be used for supporting planners, managers, policy makers, and local government to make decisions on suitable and effective planning strategies for landfill site selection and could be applied anywhere and especially in other deltas around the world.

Background/Aims
The prevalence of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding (ALGIB) has progressively increased worldwide but there are few studies in Asian populations. This study aimed to develop and ...validate a scoring system to predict severe ALGIB in Vietnamese.
Methods
Risk factors for severe ALGIB were identified by multiple logistic regression analysis using data from a retrospective cohort of 357 patients admitted to a tertiary hospital. These factors were weighted to develop the severe acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding (SALGIB) score to predict severe ALGIB. The performance of SALGIB was validated in a prospective cohort of 324 patients admitted to 6 other hospitals using area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) analysis.
Results
There were four factors at admission independently associated with severe ALGIB in the derivation cohort: heart rate ≥ 100/min, systolic blood pressure < 100 mmHg, hematocrit < 35%, and platelets ≤ 150 × 10
3
/µL. The SALGIB score determined severe ALGIB with AUC values of 0.91 and 0.86 in the derivation and validation cohorts, respectively. A SALGIB score < 2 associated with low risk of severe ALGIB in both cohorts (3.7% and 1.2%; respectively).
Conclusions
The SALGIB score has good performance in discriminating risk of severe ALGIB in Vietnamese.

Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a transmembrane enzyme upregulated in several types of tumors including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). GBM is among the most aggressive tumors among ...gliomas. Temozolomide (TMZ) therapy combined with surgical or radiation approaches is the standard treatment but not effective in long term. In this study we tested the treatment with acetazolamide (ATZ), an inhibitor of CAIX, alone or combined with TMZ. The experiments were performed in 2D and 3D cultures (spheroids) using glioblastoma U251N and human brain tumor stem cells (BTSCs). Several proteins implicated in tumor cell death were also investigated. The key results from these studies suggest the following: (1) Cell death of human glioblastoma spheroids and BTSC is significantly increased with combined treatment after 7 days, and (2) the effectiveness of ATZ is significantly enhanced against BTSC and U251N when incorporated into nano-carriers. Collectively, these results point toward the usefulness of nano-delivery of CAIX inhibitors and their combination with chemotherapeutics for glioblastoma treatment.
As with many metropolitan areas, social housing (SH) provision, which can improve living standards and social welfare, is crucial for urban socio-economic development strategies in Ho Chi Minh City ...(HCMC). However, there have been issues relating to promoting social housing in the Vietnamese context resulting from the property market and the design. The former is a failure to attract investors. The latter relates to lacking housing models for the mid- and low-income communities. Currently, many low-income families who have low access to the general job market in HCMC have to make a living by running their own business at home. This situation leads to low-income housing establishments in some residential areas. Thus, the planning approach in social housing needs to solve both the demand for low-cost housing and promoting self-employed activities. In this paper, mixed methods, including observation, questionnaires, interviews, data aggregation, and comparison, were conducted with supporting legal conditions and corresponding operating conditions to propose appropriate designs for the SH for self-employed people in HCMC. First, observing and analyzing urban spaces helped identify the unused urban areas that solve the investment issue. Then, after studying the development of social housing in different contexts via the questionnaire and in-depth interviews, self-employed households’ basic information and their business needs in using SH spaces were identified in some districts. Then, based on the legal framework and practical projects, optimal space designs were formed.
People living in coastal areas are frequently affected by natural disasters, such as floods and storms. This study aimed to assess the quality of life (QoL) of people living in disadvantaged coastal ...communes (subdivision of Vietnam) and identify their associated factors by using the World Health Organization's quality of life instrument (WHOQOL-BREF). To achieve this, a cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 595 individuals aged 18 years and above living in the coastal communes in Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam, from October 2022 to February 2023. The results showed that the mean overall QoL (mean ± SD) was 61.1 ± 10.8. Among the four domains of QoL, the physical health (57.2 ± 12.3) domain had a lower score than the psychological health (61.9 ± 13.0), social relations (63.4 ± 13.4), and environment (61.9 ± 13.3) domains. The QoL score of the domains for participants affected by flooding was significantly lower than that of those not affected, except for social relations. Multivariable logistic regression showed that subjects with not good QoL had the educational background with no formal education (Odds ratio (OR) = 2.63, 95% CI 1.19-5.83), fairly poor/poor households (OR = 2.75, 95% CI 1.48-5.12), suffered Musculoskeletal diseases (OR = 1.61, 95% CI 1.02-2.56), unsatisfaction with health status (OR = 5.27, 95% CI 2.44-11.37), family conflicts (OR = 4.51, 95%CI 2.10-9.69), and low levels of social support (OR = 2.62; 95% CI 1.14-6.02). The analysis also revealed that workers (OR = 0.17, 95% CI 0.04-0.66) had a better QoL than farmer-fisherman. QoL in disadvantaged coastal communes was low, with the lowest scores in the physical health domain. Based on the socioeconomic factors associated with not good QoL identified here, it is recommended that local authorities take more appropriate and practical measures to increase support, including measures for all aspects of physical health, psychological health, social relations, and the living environment, especially for people affected by floods.
The purpose of this review is to provide an in‐depth overview of the role of pelvic floor muscle (PFM) training in the management of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The definition, epidemiology, ...and pathogenesis of SUI are described. We review the anatomy of the PFM and the importance of PFM strength in maintaining urinary continence and establishing normal voiding function. A brief description of the surgical options currently available for SUI and the existing data regarding the role of perioperative PFM training for SUI are included. Critical research questions to better evaluate and assess PFM training during the perioperative period are proposed. Promising novel approaches in the treatment of SUI are also presented. This review is useful for physiatrists, urogynecologists, female urologists, and nurse practitioners who specialize in the management and treatment of women with SUI.
