Recent research has shown that using spectral-spatial information can considerably improve the performance of hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. HSI data is typically presented in the format ...of 3D cubes. Thus, 3D spatial filtering naturally offers a simple and effective method for simultaneously extracting the spectral-spatial features within such images. In this paper, a 3D convolutional neural network (3D-CNN) framework is proposed for accurate HSI classification. The proposed method views the HSI cube data altogether without relying on any preprocessing or post-processing, extracting the deep spectral-spatial-combined features effectively. In addition, it requires fewer parameters than other deep learning-based methods. Thus, the model is lighter, less likely to over-fit, and easier to train. For comparison and validation, we test the proposed method along with three other deep learning-based HSI classification methods-namely, stacked autoencoder (SAE), deep brief network (DBN), and 2D-CNN-based methods-on three real-world HSI datasets captured by different sensors. Experimental results demonstrate that our 3D-CNN-based method outperforms these state-of-the-art methods and sets a new record.

Time spent in outdoor activities has decreased owing to home confinement for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Concerns have been raised about whether home confinement may have ...worsened the burden of myopia owing to substantially decreased time spent outdoors and increased screen time at home.
To investigate the refractive changes and prevalence of myopia in school-aged children during the COVID-19 home confinement.
A prospective cross-sectional study using school-based photoscreenings in 123 535 children aged 6 to 13 years from 10 elementary schools in Feicheng, China, was conducted. The study was performed during 6 consecutive years (2015-2020). Data were analyzed in July 2020.
Noncycloplegic photorefraction was examined using a photoscreener device.
The spherical equivalent refraction was recorded for each child and the prevalence of myopia for each age group during each year was calculated. The mean spherical equivalent refraction and prevalence of myopia were compared between 2020 (after home confinement) and the previous 5 years for each age group.
Of the 123 535 children included in the study, 64 335 (52.1%) were boys. A total of 194 904 test results (389 808 eyes) were included in the analysis. A substantial myopic shift (approximately -0.3 diopters D) was found in the 2020 school-based photoscreenings compared with previous years (2015-2019) for younger children aged 6 (-0.32 D), 7 (-0.28 D), and 8 (-0.29 D) years. The prevalence of myopia in the 2020 photoscreenings was higher than the highest prevalence of myopia within 2015-2019 for children aged 6 (21.5% vs 5.7%), 7 (26.2% vs 16.2%), and 8 (37.2% vs 27.7%) years. The differences in spherical equivalent refraction and the prevalence of myopia between 2020 and previous years were minimal in children aged 9 to 13 years.
Home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic appeared to be associated with a significant myopic shift for children aged 6 to 8 years according to 2020 school-based photoscreenings. However, numerous limitations warrant caution in the interpretation of these associations, including use of noncycloplegic refractions and lack of orthokeratology history or ocular biometry data. Younger children's refractive status may be more sensitive to environmental changes than older ages, given the younger children are in a critical period for the development of myopia.
Aortoiliac occlusion disease, also called Leriche syndrome, is characterized by atherothrombotic obliteration of the aortic bifurcation and bilateral common iliac arteries; typically, it has a ...chronic presentation. Pulmonary embolism is more related to venous thromboembolism rather than arterial thromboembolic events. Therefore, cases of simultaneous acute Leriche syndrome and pulmonary embolism are rare. Existing intracardiac right-to-left shunt were detected in most previous cases. Herein, we present the first likely documented case wherein acute Leriche syndrome and pulmonary embolism occurred simultaneously without a patent foramen ovale.
A 58-year-old man with hyperlipidemia and coronary artery disease presented with a 4-h history of bilateral lower limb numbness. He was a heavy smoker with a history of stroke. Computed tomography angiography revealed pulmonary embolism and aortoiliac artery occlusion. Although a massive thrombus straddled the bilateral pulmonary arteries, orthopnea was his only presentation, without right ventricle failure. Cyanosis of the affected limbs was noted, and muscle strength in both limbs had regressed to grade 1. Owing to acute limb ischemia, he underwent an emergency operation to salvage the limbs. On postoperative day 5, the general condition of both the legs improved; the muscle strength improved to grade 4. He was then transferred to the general ward and enoxaparin was continued. Computed tomography angiography was repeated to evaluate the pulmonary embolism on postoperative day 8; the thrombus remained lodged in the bilateral main pulmonary arteries. Owing to persistent orthopnea and chest tightness with intermittent tachycardia, he underwent a staged operation for the pulmonary embolism on postoperative day 13. During the surgery, intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography showed no patent foramen ovale or an existing right-to-left shunt. Postoperatively, he was closely monitored in the intensive care unit for 3 days and then transferred to the general ward for 10 days. A final computed tomography angiography performed on postoperative day 18 revealed thrombus resolution. He was then discharged on postoperative day 30 without any in-hospital complications.
We present a case that might be the first documented report of acute Leriche syndrome co-occurring with pulmonary embolism without an existing patent foramen ovale.

In relation to this, we introduce a CMB-like observable scheme, where the event-level kinematics is encoded as Fox-Wolfram (FW) moments at leading order and multi-spectra of spherical harmonics at higher orders. Then we develop a series of jet-level (w/ and w/o the FW moments) and event-level classifiers, and analyze their sensitivity performance comparatively with two-jet and four-jet events. In China, patients with acute gouty arthritis benefit from skin ...patcheses with herbal medicines. But the clinical effects of skin patches with Xin Huang Pian are rarely reported.
Design
A Randomized, Double‐Blind, Active‐Controlled Trial.
Methods
The trial was performed from January 2015–December 2018 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat‐sen University in China. It was conducted with one intervention group (skin patches of Xin Huang Pian, N = 30) and one active control group (skin patches of Diclofenac Diethylamine Emulgel, N = 31). Participants and study investigators were both blinded to the treatment assignments. The primary outcomes were the improvement of joints' symptoms. The secondary outcomes were changes in white blood cells, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C‐reactive protein.
Results
Skin patches of Xin Huang Pian showed quick effect on decreasing joint pain at 3rd day of treatment. Wherever only at 7th day, Diclofenac Diethylamine Emulgel markedly lowered joint pain. Xin Huang Pian also showed superior effect than Diclofenac Diethylamine Emulgel on improving joint swelling and range of motion and decreasing the levels of C‐reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. No adverse reactions were observed in skin patches of Xin Huang Pian treatment.
Conclusion
Skin patches of Xin Huang Pian appeared to be safe and efficacious for relieving joint symptoms in patients with acute gouty arthritis. The mechanism might be associated with the decreased levels of C‐reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
Impact
Skin‐patcheses with Xin Huang Pian are more effective than Diclofenac Diethylamine Emulgel on improving joint pain, swelling and range of motion. Xin Huang Pian treatment showed superior effects compared with Diclofenac Diethylamine Emulgel on decreasing levels of C‐reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Patients with acute gouty arthritis may benefit from skin patches of Xin Huang Pian for effective relief from joint pain and swelling.

Abstract
Background
Critical care patients often require central venous cannulation (CVC). We hypothesized that real-time biplane ultrasound-guided CVC would improve first-puncture success rate and ...reduce mechanical complications. The purpose of this study was to compare the success rate and safety of single-plane and real-time biplane approaches for ultrasound-guided CVC.
Methods
From October 2022 to March 2023, 256 participants with critical illness requiring CVC were randomized to either the single-plane (
n
= 128) or biplane (
n
= 128) ultrasound-guided cannulation groups. The success rate, number of punctures, procedure duration, incidence of catheterization-related complications, and confidence score of operators were documented.
Results
The central vein was successfully cannulated in all 256 participants (163 64% man and 93 36% women; mean age 69 ± 19 range 13–104 years), including 182 and 74 who underwent internal jugular vein cannulation (IJVC) and femoral vein cannulation (FVC), respectively. The incidence of successful puncture on the first attempt was higher in the biplane group than that in the single-plane group (91.6% vs. 74.7%; relative risk (RR), 1.226; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.069–1.405;

= 0.002 for the IJVC and 90.9% vs. 68.3%; RR, 1.331; 95% CI, 1.053–1.684;

= 0.019 for the FVC). Conclusion
Real-time biplane imaging of ultrasound-guided CVCs offers advantages over the single-plane approach for critically ill patients.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an aggressive malignancy with extremely skewed ethnic and geographic distributions. Increasing evidence indicates that targeting the tumor microenvironment (TME) ...represents a promising therapeutic approach in NPC, highlighting an urgent need to deepen the understanding of the complex NPC TME. Here, we generated single-cell transcriptome profiles for 7581 malignant cells and 40,285 immune cells from fifteen primary NPC tumors and one normal sample. We revealed malignant signatures capturing intratumoral transcriptional heterogeneity and predicting aggressiveness of malignant cells. Diverse immune cell subtypes were identified, including novel subtypes such as CLEC9A
dendritic cells (DCs). We further revealed transcriptional regulators underlying immune cell diversity, and cell-cell interaction analyses highlighted promising immunotherapeutic targets in NPC. Moreover, we established the immune subtype-specific signatures, and demonstrated that the signatures of macrophages, plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), CLEC9A
DCs, natural killer (NK) cells, and plasma cells were significantly associated with improved survival outcomes in NPC. Taken together, our findings represent a unique resource providing in-depth insights into the cellular heterogeneity of NPC TME and highlight potential biomarkers for anticancer treatment and risk stratification, laying a new foundation for precision therapies in NPC.
In this paper, a new robust fault-tolerant compensation control method for uncertain linear systems over networks is proposed, where only quantized signals are assumed to be available. This approach ...is based on the integral sliding mode (ISM) method where two kinds of integral sliding surfaces are constructed. One is the continuous-state-dependent surface with the aim of sliding mode stability analysis and the other is the quantization-state-dependent surface, which is used for ISM controller design. A scheme that combines the adaptive ISM controller and quantization parameter adjustment strategy is then proposed. Through utilizing H ∞ control analytical technique, once the system is in the sliding mode, the nature of performing disturbance attenuation and fault tolerance from the initial time can be found without requiring any fault information. Finally, the effectiveness of our proposed ISM control fault-tolerant schemes against quantization errors is demonstrated in the simulation.
