We present the results of the first complete one-loop matching calculation between the real singlet scalar extension of the Standard Model and the Standard Model effective field theory ...(SMEFT) at dimension six. Beyond their immediate relevance to the precision calculation of observables in singlet extensions of the Standard Model, our results illustrate a variety of general features of one-loop matching. We explore the interplay between non-supersymmetric non-renormalization theorems, the logarithmic dependence of Wilson coefficients, and the relevance of mixed diagrams in theories with large scale separation. In addition, we highlight some of the subtleties involved in computing observables at next-to-leading order in SMEFT by mapping our results to the
T
parameter at one loop.
The leading approach to fault tolerant quantum computing requires a continual supply of magic states. When a new magic state is first encoded, its initial fidelity will be too poor for use in the ...computation. This necessitates a resource-intensive distillation process that occupies the majority of the computer's hardware; creating magic states with a high initial fidelity minimizes this cost and is therefore crucial for practical quantum computing. Here we present the surprising and encouraging result that raw magic states can have a fidelity significantly better than that of the two-qubit gate operations used to construct them. Our protocol exploits post-selection without significantly slowing the rate of generation and tolerates finite error rates in initializations, measurements and single-qubit gates. This approach may dramatically reduce the size of the hardware needed for a given quantum computing task.
Alternative polyadenylation (APA), which induces shortening of the 3′‐UTR, is emerging as an important feature in cancer development and progression. Nevertheless, the effects and mechanisms of ...APA‐induced 3′‐UTR shortening in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remain largely unclear. Fibronectin type III domain containing 3B (FNDC3B) tended to use proximal polyadenylation site and produce shorter 3′‐UTR according to our previous sequencing study. Herein, we found that FNDC3B with shorter 3′‐UTR could escape from miRNA‐mediated gene repression, and caused its increased expression in NPC. Knocking down of FNDC3B inhibited NPC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis in vitro and in vivo. Overexpression of FNDC3B, especially those with shorter 3′‐UTR, promoted NPC progression. Furthermore, the mechanism study revealed that FNDC3B could bind to and stabilize myosin heavy chain 9 (MYH9) to activate the Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway. In addition, MYH9 could reverse the inhibitory effects of FNDC3B knockdown in NPC. Altogether, our results suggested that the 3′‐UTR shortening of FNDC3B mRNA mediated its overexpression in NPC and promoted NPC progression by targeting MYH9. This newly identified FNDC3B‐MYH9‐Wnt/β‐catenin axis could represent potential targets for individualized treatment in NPC.

Separators play a pivotal role in the electrochemical performance and safety of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). The commercial microporous polyolefin‐based separators often suffer from inferior ...electrolyte wettability, low thermal stability, and severe safety concerns. Herein, a novel kind of highly flexible and porous separator based on hydroxyapatite nanowires (HAP NWs) with excellent thermal stability, fire resistance, and superior electrolyte wettability is reported. A hierarchical cross‐linked network structure forms between HAP NWs and cellulose fibers (CFs) via hybridization, which endows the separator with high flexibility and robust mechanical strength. The high thermal stability of HAP NW networks enables the separator to preserve its structural integrity at temperatures as high as 700 °C, and the fire‐resistant property of HAP NWs ensures high safety of the battery. In particular, benefiting from its unique composition and highly porous structure, the as‐prepared HAP/CF separator exhibits near zero contact angle with the liquid electrolyte and high electrolyte uptake of 253%, indicating superior electrolyte wettability compared with the commercial polyolefin separator. The as‐prepared HAP/CF separator has unique advantages of superior electrolyte wettability, mechanical robustness, high thermal stability, and fire resistance, thus, is promising as a new kind of separator for advanced LIBs with enhanced performance and high safety.
A new kind of highly flexible, porous, high‐wettability, fire‐resistant hydroxyapatite nanowire‐based separator with superior performance and high safety is prepared for advanced lithium‐ion batteries. The batteries with the hydroxyapatite nanowire‐based separators show better cyclability and enhanced rate capability compared with those with the commercial polypropylene separator. The as‐prepared batteries adopting the hydroxyapatite nanowire‐based separator can safely work at 150 °C.
LHAASO collaboration detected photons with energy above 10 TeV from the most recent gamma-ray burst (GRB), GRB221009A. Given the redshift of this event, z∼0.15, photons of such energy are expected to ...interact with the diffuse extragalactic background light (EBL) well before reaching Earth. In this paper we provide a novel neutrino-related explanation of the most energetic 18 TeV event reported by LHAASO. We find that the minimal viable scenario involves both mixing and transition magnetic moment portal between light and sterile neutrinos. The production of sterile neutrinos occurs efficiently via mixing while the transition magnetic moment portal governs the decay rate in the parameter space where tree-level decays via mixing to non-photon final states are suppressed. Our explanation of this event, while being consistent with the terrestrial constraints, points to the non-standard cosmology.
Increasing evidence indicates that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play vital roles in the tumorigenesis and progression of cancers. However, the functions and regulatory mechanisms of lncRNAs in ...nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) are still largely unknown. Our previous lncRNA expression profiles identified that LINC01503 was overexpressed in NPC. Here, we verified that LINC01503 was highly expressed in NPC and correlated with poor prognosis. LINC01503 promoted NPC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro, and facilitated tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, LINC01503 recruited splicing factor proline-and glutamine-rich (SFPQ) to activate Fos like 1 (FOSL1) transcription, and ectopic expression of FOSL1 reversed the suppressive effect of LINC01503 knockdown on NPC progression. Moreover, androgen receptor (AR)-mediated transcription activation was responsible for the overexpression of LINC01503, and AR ligand-dependent cell growth, migration, and invasion in NPC cells. Taken together, our findings reveal that AR-induced LINC01503 can promote NPC progression through the SFPQ-FOSL1 axis, which represents a novel prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for NPC patients.
Cervical cancer (CC) remains a highly prevalent cancer and mortality globally among women globally. The aim of the present study was to assess the ability of miR‐374b to regulate CC cells through ...JAM‐2, whilst exploring whether the underlying mechanism and its relation to the p38/ERK signaling pathway. During the study, microRNA‐374b (miR‐374b) was observed to have been expressed at a low level among CC tissues. Hence, a series of miR‐374b mimics, miR‐374b inhibitors, siRNA against JAM‐2, SB202190 (an inhibitor for p38), and PD98059 (an inhibitor for ERK) were introduced to treat CC Siha cells and normal cervical Ect1/E6E7 cells. MTT, flow cytometry, scratch test, and transwell assays were applied to determine cell viability, apoptosis, migration, and invasion. The inhibitory role of the p38/ERK signaling pathway was observed in the CC cells treated with miR‐374b mimics or siRNA against JAM‐2. miR‐374b mimic exposure was found to reduce cell viability, migration, and invasion, but induce apoptosis. MiR‐374b inhibitor exposure was observed to have induced effects on the CC cells in a contrary manner to those induced by that of the miR‐374b mimics. The key findings of the study demonstrated that miR‐374b significantly inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion through the blockade of the p38/ERK signaling pathway activation, as well as negatively binding to JAM‐2, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for CC.

Background
Checkpoint inhibitors have shown modest activity in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Herein, the authors report a prospective single‐institution ...clinical/translational phase 2 study of pembrolizumab in patients with advanced HCC and circulating biomarkers closely related to response.
Methods
Pembrolizumab was administered at a dose of 200 mg intravenously every 3 weeks among patients who may have developed disease progression while receiving, were intolerant of, or refused sorafenib. The circulating levels of cytokines, chemokines, programmed cell death protein 1 (PD‐1), programmed death–ligand 1 (PD‐L1), and PD‐L2 were correlated with response, tumor PD‐L1 expression, and other clinicopathological features.
Results
A total of 29 patients were treated and 28 patients were evaluable for response. The most common laboratory grade 3/4 adverse events were increases in aspartate aminotransferase and/or alanine aminotransferase and serum bilirubin, which for the most part were reversible. In terms of efficacy, one patient achieved a complete response and 8 patients achieved partial responses for an overall response rate of 32%. Four other patients had stable disease. The median progression‐free survival was 4.5 months and the median overall survival was 13 months. Response did not correlate with prior sorafenib therapy, PD‐L1 tumor staining, or a prior history of hepatitis. Correlative studies revealed that high baseline plasma TGF‐β levels (≥200 pg/mL) significantly correlated with poor treatment outcomes after pembrolizumab. Tumor PD‐L1 and plasma PD‐L1/PD‐1 levels were associated with plasma IFN‐γ or IL‐10.
Conclusions
Pembrolizumab was found to demonstrate activity in patients with advanced HCC. Toxicity generally was tolerable and reversible. A set of immunological markers in blood plasma as well as PD‐L1 staining indicated that baseline TGF‐β could be a predictive biomarker for response to pembrolizumab.

We enrolled 264 patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). We performed immunohistochemical detection of p16 and determined the degree of interstitial fibrosis (IF). The expression of p16 was ...associated with pathological tumor–node–metastasis (pTNM) stage and age (p < 0.05). The cancer-specific survival (CSS) was longer in p16-negative patients (195.73 vs. 181.78 months, p = 0.007). p16 was significantly related to the degree of IF (r = 0.130, p = 0.035). PTC patients with no or mild fibrosis tended to have a larger tumor (p = 0.045). The degree of fibrosis was related to the proportion of papillary structure components (p = 0.025). Univariate and multivariate survival analyses showed that relapse-free survival (RFS) was longer in patients with moderate/severe IF (p < 0.05). In summary, p16 was correlated with prognosis and IF of PTC. Patients with moderate/severe IF tend to have better prognosis in RFS.
A new class of supramolecular metallacycles capable of undergoing photochemical reactions and in situ release of cyclobutanes in solution is described. The molecular metallacycles were generated ...through coordination‐driven self‐assembly of dinuclear metal‐carbene complexes as organometallic clips with olefin‐functionalized bridging ligands. Photolysis of these molecular metallacycles in situ led to structural interconversion and release of the formed cyclobutane products with quantitative conversion. Further modifications of the obtained cyclobutanes provided a series of new species containing the cyclobutane skeleton.
Catch and release: Photolysis of the pictured molecular metallacycles in situ leads to quantitative cycloaddition and release of the stereoselectively formed cyclobutane products. The pendant groups on the products include pyridyl, imidazole, benzimidazoles, and carboxylic derivatives.
