A bright green luminescence at 5250 Å is reported for cathodochromic sodalite powders under ultraviolet excitation. This emission is observed in germanium-doped sodalite samples in which the halogen ...ion is either Cl, Br, or I and under certain conditions in germanium-free bromine sodalite. These powders constitute a new class of materials which allow the construction of cathodochromic CRT's whose images can be viewed in either high or low ambient light.
Through use of a Q-sort of twenty-one occupational demands (eg, "independence," "having discussions with prisoners," "strict obedience to regulations," etc), 253 prison officials were asked which ...occupational demands each considered to have prime priority in his own job & which demands arose out of the expectations of the public, the institution's management, the special services (psychologists, social workers, etc), colleagues, & prisoners. Results yield a description of occupational role problems as reflected in the experiences of prison officials. Findings are discussed in the context of the officials' institutional situation. Inadequate communication between the institutions' top officials & the lower levels appears as a major problem. 6 Diagrams. AA Tr & Modified by S. Whittle.
