Tuna je jedna od najcjenjenijih morskih riba. Meso tune je iznimno nutritivno bogato, sadrži visok postotak proteina i vrlo malo masti, zbog čega je odličan izbor za zdravu prehranu i prevenciju ...raznih bolesti. Predstavlja jedan od najvažnijih hrvatskih izvoznih proizvoda, koji je usmjeren prema japanskom tržištu. U Hrvatskoj se tuna najčešće uzgaja i dohranjuje u posebnim kavezima kako bi dosegla veličinu potrebnu za izvoz. Godine nekontroliranog izlova tune pogodovale su nastanku crnog tržišta koje je dovelo u pitanje opstanak vrste. U tu je svrhu osnovana Međunarodna komisija za očuvanje i zaštitu atlantskih tuna (ICCAT) čiji je osnovni cilj praćenje stanja biozaliha tuna i njima sličnih vrsta. Hrvatska najviše izvozi svježe, rashlađeno ili smrznuto meso atlantske plavorepe tune, a uvozi pripremljenu i konzerviranu tunu različitih vrsta. Količinski gledano, uvoz i izvoz su podjednaki, ali se izvozom zbog visoke kvalitete proizvoda ostvaruju višestruki prihodi i održava pozitivna vanjskotrgovinska bilanca. Uzgoj tune u Hrvatskoj predstavlja relativno mladu, no bez obzira na to vrlo važnu djelatnost koju treba poticati i promovirati jer ima veliku važnost za hrvatsko gospodarstvo i vanjskotrgovinsku politiku.
The aim of the paper is to determine the relevant intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of foodstuffs important to young consumers when purchasing in relation to their socio-demographic characteristics. ...Questionnaire was used as a method of data collection and an instrument for the survey. The survey was carried out on a sample of N = 384 students at the Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek (now Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek). The results indicate that for young consumers the intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of foodstuffs are of extreme importance. The most important intrinsic attribute is the taste of food, while the most important extrinsic attributes are brand and an affordable price. The results of this paper can serve as framework for a future consumer preference research with other profile of respondents.
Eastern part of Croatia is agricultural region according to natural resource (fertile soil, first of all), as well as human potential (long experience in traditional agriculture). Besides agriculture ...as traditional activity, a characteristic of rurality is also added to this region. Rural area is dominant in Eastern Croatia and it effects on relatively small urban areas. This paper represents new possibilities of rural economic activities on family farms in Eastern Croatia. Role and significant of rural economic activities is analyzed through indicators overview (land structure, GDP, population, population density, TEA index, unemployment ect.). Challenges through diversification of rural economic activities in this paper includes added economic activities realized on family farms through tourism, crafts, handy work, processing, renewable energyetc. Added economic activities on family farms in Eastern Croatia participate with only 3.9%. Suggestions and possibilities measures of rural economic activities diversification are reflected through two main streams. First stream is diversification of activities through added value of agricultural products as vertical connection (organic food, autochthony products, functional food, renewable energy sources etc.). Other one economic activity diversification indicates distribution function of final products through different services on the family farm (direct sale, specialized shops, rural tourism and many other services).
Changes in nutritional habits of individuals, including students, occur not only due to age or change of residence (leaving the family home), but also because of different external factors and global ...trends in a balanced and varied diet. Foods of high nutritional value, i.e. balanced and varied food, become the basis of health care. The aim of the study is to determine students’ attitudes about nutrition and health, and the influence their socio-demographic characteristics have on their perception of health and nutrition. The survey was conducted on students (N = 384) by a questionnaire. The study found that the majority of students perceive that they have enough knowledge about health and "healthy" nutrition, and this knowledge is primarily acquired through the Internet. The place of residence, or the act of leaving the family home and starting an independent life, reduces the consumption of healthy eating, while a higher economic status, i.e. students’ higher financial budget, increases opportunities to consume food in a proper way. Most of the students living on a University campus believe that they had "healthier" nutrition pre–college and that they ate less unhealthy food at the family home. This fact should be an incentive for institutions, student homes and restaurants to act in such a way (through posters, workshops, seminars, more diverse menus, etc.) as to encourage students to learn more about the connection between food and health.
Anti-oxidative activity of pepper fruits, total and commercial yield, number of non-commercial and BER fruits under influence of bio-stimulant treatment and pepper hybrid were investigated in this ...experiment. Significantly highest anti-oxidative activity, determined by DPPH assay, was recorded in treated Century F1 hybrid pepper plants. Also, positive significant correlation (r=0.526*) between commercial yield and anti-oxidative activity appeared. Generally, treatment with bio-stimulants positively influenced all investigated parameters in Century F1 hybrid, while in Blondy F1 significantly decreased number of non-commercial and BER fruits. At the end, compared to untreated plants, treatment resulted in higher commercial yield in both hybrids.
In two-year experiment in apple orchard on calcareous soil in eastern Croatia, N fertilization and crop load influence on fruit macroelement content and fruit quality was investigated. The effect of ...year was significant in all tested parameters except Ca and Mg content in fruits, with higher values observed in dryer 2003 year. The applied N fertilization and crop load did not influence any of tested parameters except fruit weight. The interaction of year and crop load had an impact on fruit Ca content and fruit weight, which was negatively related to all macroelement concentrations as well as fruit dry matter content, total acid and total sugar content in given experimental conditions.
Ekološka je poljoprivreda sustav gospodarenja koji teži etički prihvatljivoj, ekološki čistoj, socijalno pravednoj i gospodarski isplativoj poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji. Poduzetništvo ima funkciju ...pokretanja proizvodnje i poslovnih aktivnosti te cilj stvarati nove proizvode i njihove dodane vrijednosti. Ono je sastavni dio faktora za proizvodnju te temelj za gospodarski i ekonomski razvoj. Poduzetništvo u poljoprivredi doprinosi prehrani stanovništva, proizvodnji sirovina i povezanosti s uslugama te predstavlja generator razvitka cjelokupnoga gospodarstva. Cilj je istraživanja utvrditi stanje i razvojne perspektive poduzetništva u ekološkoj poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji Vukovarsko-srijemske županije. Pri izradi rada korištena je znanstvena literatura i odgovarajući internetski izvori te statistički podaci Ministarstva poljoprivrede Republike Hrvatske i Vukovarsko-srijemske županije. Prema rezultatima istraživanja, ekološka poljoprivredna proizvodnja u Republici Hrvatskoj kontinuirano raste te je u 2015. godini evidentirano 3.061 ekoloških proizvođača, koji proizvode na ukupno 75.882 hektara poljoprivrednoga zemljišta. U Vukovarsko-srijemskoj županiji je 1.944 hektara poljoprivrednih površina, što iznosi 2,56% ukupne površine pod ekološkom poljoprivredom u Republici Hrvatskoj, sa 63 ekološka proizvođača. Poduzetnici bi trebali povećati proizvodne kapacitete i proizvodnju kako bi postigli veću cjenovnu konkurentnost na tržištu, ali i više se orijentirati na preradu ekoloških proizvoda, čime bi mogli ostvariti veće prodajne cijene u odnosu na primarne proizvode. U promoviranju i unapređenju poduzetništva u ekološkoj poljoprivredi prepoznat je CEPOR Vukovar, a perspektive u razvoju ekološke poljoprivrede povezane su s razvojnim projektima koji se financiraju iz europskih sredstava.
Until now, no research has been carried out in Croatia into consumer preferences for a particular agricultural and food product by a choice experiment. Therefore, little data are available about ...Croatian consumers' preferences for social concerns (sustainability, biodiversity, rural development and animal welfare) with regard to the consumer choice and behavior favoring local pig breeds, in this case the Black Slavonian Pig breed. A survey was the method used to collect the data, and a survey questionnaire was used as an instrument. The survey was performed on a sample of n = 100 Croatian consumers surveyed online using a hypothetical choice experiment. The data were analyzed using the three logit models: a multinomial logit model (MNL), random parameter logit (RPL), and an error component random parameter logit model (RPL-EC) in order to examine the consumers’ heterogeneous preferences for fresh ham meat of the Black Slavonian Pig. The results suggest that the Croatian consumers appreciated a darker red fresh pork meat than the one obtained from the Black Slavonian Pig reared outdoors and semi-outdoor. They also prefer a fresh meat bearing a geographical information label, such as the continental Croatia and continental Croatia + PDO, to a fresh meat without a label.
