KASKA is a reactor neutrino experiment to measure θ13 accurately. The sensitivity reach of sin22θ13 will be 0.015 in its first phase. Higher accuracy θ13measurement, precise θ12 measurement and first ...Δm132 measurement are also in consideration in future extensions of the experiment. A brief description of the KASKA project and its R&D activities are presented.
'Tosajishi-beauty', a pepper mild mottle tobamovirus pathotype 1, 2 (PMMoV(P1,2)) resistant variety, was developed at Kochi Prefectural Agricultural Research Center during the period 1990-1999. ...'Tosajishi-beauty' is a F1 hybrid of '1-3-2-6-14-20' andeShishitou Tankei (ST)'. The seed parent '1-3-2-6-14-20' was developed by introducing the PMMoV (P1,2) resistant gene L**3 from the variety 'Kikyou Kou No.10' (developed at Nagano Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station) into the variety 'Shishitou Chuukei (SC)' by means of the backcrossing method. The 'ST' is a line developed at the former Kochi Prefectural Horticultural Experiment Station. 'Tosajishi-beauty' is an early variety. It has a vigorous growth. The fruits are thin-walled, cylindrical with rugged fruit apex and green in color. The fruits yield and a rate of good fruits are more than that of the current cultivar 'Shishi-homare' in forcing cultureDSince 'Tosajishi-beautyfhas a good fruit setting under a low temperature condition, it is suitable for forcing culture. It has the most adaptability in a field where PMMoV (P1,2) is always developed.
"Yuuko no Kagayaki" and "Yuuko no Tokimeki" are new Asiatic hybrid varieties with small flowers. These were developed by crossing the Asiatic hybrid variety "Mona" and Lillium concolor cv. "Star ...Beauty" at Kochi Prefectural Agriculture Resaech Center in 1998. The characteristics of "Yuuko no Kagayaki" and "Yuuko no Tokimeki" are summarized as follows: 1. From planting to blooming in a green house at a minimun temperature of 10 deg C, "Yuuko no Kagayaki" needed 108 days, and "Yuuko no Tokimeki" needed 107 days. 2. The plant height of "Yuuko no Kagayaki" was 105 cm and "Yuuko no Tokimeki" was 94 cm. 3. The flower of "Yuuko no Kagayaki" is about 11 cm in diameter and "Yuuko no Tokimeki" is about 12 cm. Petals and sepals of "Yuuko no Kagayaki" are vivid reddish yellow and the margins are vivid yellowish orange. Petals and sepals of "Yuuko no Tokimeki" are bright reddish orange and spotted. Anthers and pollens of "Yuuko no Kagayaki" are yellow and those of "Yuuko no Tokimeki" are reddish orange. "Star Beauty", one of their parent, has an unpleasant smell, but both new varieties have no smell. 4. A Bulb weight of more than 12 g for "Yuuko no Kagayaki" and more than 10 g for "Yuuko no Tokimeki" are needed to produce five flowers in one inflorescence.
