What I propose in the present article are some theoretical adjustments for a more coherent answer to the legal "status question" of artificial intelligence (AI) systems. I arrive at those by using ...the new "bundle theory" of legal personhood, together with its accompanying conceptual and methodological apparatus as a lens through which to look at a recent such answer inspired from German civil law and named
or partial legal capacity. I argue that partial legal capacity is a possible solution to the status question only if we understand legal personhood according to this new theory. Conversely, I argue that if indeed
lends itself to being applied to AI systems, then such flexibility further confirms the bundle theory paradigm shift. I then go on to further analyze and exploit the particularities of
to inform a reflection on the appropriate conceptual shape of legal personhood and suggest a slightly different answer from the bundle theory framework in what I term a "gradient theory" of legal personhood.
Infectious and inflammatory dermatoses featuring skin lesions with loss of tissue expose skin layers to microbial invasions, disrupt the normal skin microbiome, and potentially lead to sepsis. ...However, literature data on the incidence of cutaneous-onset sepsis are scarce. This retrospective observational study assessed hospital admissions for primary skin lesions without bacterial infections and sepsis during 2020-2022 in the largest emergency hospital in NE Romania. Of 509 patients, 441 had infected lesions, 78 had sepsis caused by venous ulcers from microbial eczema cellulitis, superinfected bullous dermatoses, erysipelas, and erythroderma. associated with sepsis, even if this was rarer. Clinical manifestations included ulcerations, erosions, fissures, excoriations, bullae, vesicles, pruritus, tumefaction, edema, fever, chills, pain, adenopathy, and mildly altered mental status. Underlying chronic heart failure, atrial fibrillation, anemia, and type-1 diabetes mellitus were comorbidities associated with infection and sepsis. Significant associations and risk factors, including their combined effects, are discussed to draw attention to the need for further research and adequate management to prevent sepsis in adult patients of any age presenting with infected skin lesions (especially cellulitis) and comorbidities (especially type 1 diabetes mellitus and anemia).
Acute canine idiopathic polyradiculoneuritis (ACIP) is one of the most common generalised neuromuscular diseases affecting dogs. In this report, we describe a 5-year-old, 25-kg, male, intact, ...Siberian Husky dog with ACIP with secondary induced arterial hypertension {systolic blood pressure mean (m) ± standard deviation (sd), 214 ± 19 mmHg; mean blood pressure (m ± sd), 164 ± 6.36 mmHg; and diastolic blood pressure (m ± sd), 137 ± 0.7 mmHg} and sinus tachycardia. Heart rate variability analysis indicated decreased vagal activity (low root-mean-square values of successive RR interval differences and percentages of the RR intervals differing by more than 50 ms in the entire recording) and predominance of sympathetic activity. Arterial hypertension was treated with amlodipine but remained greater than the upper limit for 51 days until the dog recovered ambulation. This is the first case report of ACIP and secondary arterial hypertension in a dog. Routine blood pressure measurements should be included in the monitoring of patients with ACIP if arterial hypertension might interfere with patient prognosis.

Vasculitis are disorders characterized by the presence of an inflammatory process in the blood vessel wall, resulting in damage or necroses of certain tissues or organs. Numerous clinical symptoms, ...ranging from acute localized hypersensitivity reactions to severe auto-immune systemic disorders that are incurable and life-threatening, can be attributed to the types and locations of affected arteries as well as the level of inflammation. Typical oral or facial symptoms of several forms of vasculitis can help in an early diagnosis of vasculitis. IgA vasculitis and Kawasaki disease (KD) are the two predominant types of pediatric vasculitis that involve the mouth, followed by ANCA vasculitis. Furthermore, SLE, a connective tissue disease, is one of the most prevalent autoimmune illnesses in children and can proceed rapidly across multiple organs or start mildly and gradually. Numerous more systemic conditions, such as infection, autoinflammatory disorders and neoplasia, can also primary or secondary localize in the oral cavity, infections being more frequent. Many various professionals, including dentists, family physicians, pediatricians, rheumatologists, hematologists, gastroenterologists, and otorhinolaryngologists, examine and treat children with oral symptoms. In 87.7% of patients overall and over 90% of patients with KD and IgA vasculitis (formerly known as Henoch-Schönlein purpura), cutaneous involvement was observed. Recurrent oral aphthous ulcers were present in all Behçet syndrome patients (1).
We present a case of a pregnant woman in the third trimester who came to the Department of Emergency, Sf. Apostol Andrei Emergency County Hospital, Constanţa, Romania, in September 2016, for ...abdominal pain and ascites. After admission, the patient was periodically tested (biochemically and by ultrasound). We also payed attention to the fetal well-being. During the hospitalization, the patient was also found positive for syphilis. Biochemical values have progressively altered, the fetus started to present acute fetal distress and the patient gave birth by Caesarean section after two days of hospitalization. The intraoperatory surprise was hemoperitoneum caused by posttraumatic splenic rupture. The relevance of this case consists in its rarity (we were not able to find in the literature a case with the association of pregnancy, syphilis, trauma, and splenic rupture), in the difficult histopathological clear assertion and in the clinical awareness of such a condition.
