Biomass gasification appears as a potential source of renewable and sustainable energy for green environment. Biomass steam gasification has gained significant importance in this era due to high ...product yield and economical viability. For commercialization of biomass steam gasification process, suitable catalyst for tar reduction, higher product yield and active life of catalyst are still hot questions. Different types of catalyst like dolomite, alkaline metal, nickel and olivine are used in biomass steam gasification. Some of them have good potential for tar elimination and others are good in higher product yield. Most of the catalysts have short active life, expensive and with regeneration problem. The purpose of current study is to review the effect of different catalysts in the biomass steam gasification process used for tar elimination and higher product yield. In addition, the potential of coal bottom ash as a substitute of catalyst in biomass steam gasification is discussed.
The shifting ideological centre of gravity from what has been termed "democratic cosmopolitanism" to "religious nationalism" in Indonesia and its impacts on diverse areas of policymaking has been a ...subject of scholarly debate. This article investigates how these ideological developments affect gender policy reforms in post-Reformasi Indonesia. To do so, it develops a framework to examine ideological contestation by centring the role of Pancasila and gender politics in its analysis. By employing this framework, the article examines three attempts at gender policy reform: the 2008 Pornography Law, and two most recent bills on the elimination of sexual violence (RUU Penghapusan Kekerasan Seksual) and family resilience (RUU Ketahanan Keluarga). It is argued that the battle over the interpretation of Pancasila has ideologically shaped gender policy reforms through which political actors contest their ideal gender order and relations. This article concludes by reflecting on broader issues around gender, democracy, and ideology in post-Reformasi Indonesia.

Emulsion-type sausages were produced, at 80°C for either 0, 10, 20 or 30min, using homogeneous Taihu pork batters. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR), with or without deuterium oxide (D2O) substitution, evaluated the proton mobility states related to both water and fat molecules, or fat molecules only, respectively, in the sausage samples, during heat-induced gelation. The decreasing trend in the area proportion of main peak T21, reflected a tighter gel structure in emulsion-type sausages. Raman spectra (400–3600cm–1) revealed decreased α-helix, but increased β-sheet, β-turns and random coil contents, during the gelling process. Moreover, principal component analysis (PCA) showed significant correlations between secondary protein structures with distribution of water and fat in the gel matrix. Furthermore, this study established the relationship of water and fat protons mobility with changes in secondary protein structures, and described the critical time of gel formation in emulsion-type pork sausages.
Cost is the foremost factor in decision-making for profit-driven organizations. However, hybrid flow shop scheduling (HFSS) research rarely prioritizes cost as its optimization objective. Existing ...studies primarily focus on electricity costs linked to machine utilization. This paper introduces a comprehensive cost-based HFSS model, encompassing electricity, labor, maintenance, and penalty costs. Next, the Tiki-Taka Algorithm (TTA) is improved by increasing the exploration capability to optimize the problem. The cost-based HFSS model and TTA algorithm have been tested using benchmark and case study problems. The results indicated that the TTA consistently outperforms other algorithms. It delivers the best mean fitness and better solution distribution. In industrial contexts, the TTA able to reduces costs by 2.8% to 12.0% compared to other approaches. This holistic cost-based HFSS model empowers production planners to make more informed decisions. Furthermore, the improved TTA shows promise for broader applicability in various combinatorial optimization domains.

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of repeated freeze–thaw cycles (0–6) on any physico-chemical changes and lipid and protein oxidation in chicken breast. The results showed that meat colour, a∗ (redness) and b∗ (yellowness) values decreased while L∗ values (lightness) increased with increasing cycle numbers. Increasing freeze–thaw cycles resulted in a greater degree of lipid and protein oxidation, as evidenced by higher contents of malondialdehyde and carbonyl compounds, and lower contents of sulfhydryl groups. Differential scanning calorimetry profiles and SDS–PAGE banding patterns of myofibrillar proteins indicated slight denaturation of myosin and actin with repeated freeze–thaw cycles. The structural changes occurring in proteins caused by oxidation directly affected the ability of muscles to retain water, as confirmed by the nuclear magnetic resonance relaxometery profile. In conclusion, multiple freeze–thaw cycles increased lipid and protein oxidation and decreased water holding capacity and colour stability of broiler chicken breast.
Northeasterly cold surges strongly influence the rainfall patterns over the Malay Peninsula during the northeast monsoon season. This study looks at the changes in the cold surges and Madden–Julian ...oscillation (MJO) characteristics through the northeastmonsoon season and their interaction. Nearly 75% of the cold surge events tend to cross the equator around the Java Sea area (100°–110°E) in February–March with drier conditions prevailing over the Malay Peninsula and increased rainfall over Java. Both the cold surges and the MJO undergo seasonal variations with well-defined regional features. Wavelet analysis shows that MJO amplitude and high-frequency rainfall variations over Southeast Asia peak in November–December. MJO amplitude is suppressed during February and March. This is linked to the high-frequency surges of meridional winds that are prominent during the early part of the season, but February–March is dominated by low-frequency (∼20–90 days) cross-equatorial monsoon flow. These prolonged periods of strong meridional flow at the equator interact with the MJO both dynamically and thermodynamically and act as a barrier for convection from propagating from the Indian Ocean to the Maritime Continent (MC). These interactions may have implications for weather and seasonal forecasting over the region. An evaluation of the properties of cold surges and their interaction with the seasonal cycle in the Met Office Unified Model is performed. The atmosphere–ocean coupled model performs better in representing the pattern of influence of the cold surges despite the biases in intensity and spatial distribution of rainfall extremes. These diagnostics are presented with the aim of developing a set of model evaluation metrics for global and regional models.
Thiosemicarbazone-linked 3-acetylpyridine (T3AP), was synthesized and tested on copper strips in hydrochloric acid. Gravimetric measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to ...investigate the optimized inhibitory behavior of T3AP using the response surface methodology (RSM), with the optimized result obtained using a temperature of 42.90 °C, acid concentration of 2.38 M, inhibitor concentration of 3.80 mM, and time of 18.97 h, with inhibition efficiency up to approximately 93%. Validation of the experimental and predicted RSM showed that no significant difference in the inhibition efficiency with the confidence level value up to 97% was obtained. The isotherm study shows that T3AP obeys the Langmuir isotherm adsorption model, with physisorption and chemisorption adsorption mechanisms. The effectiveness of inhibitor performance of T3AP can be visually observed using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The characterization revealed that the reactive S and N atoms in the T3AP inhibitor form strong chemical adsorption through N-Cu and Cu-S bonds on the copper surface. Computational analysis was also carried out, and we found that the stable energy gap between the occupied and unoccupied molecular orbitals (4.6891 eV) and high binding energy (540.962 kJ mol
−1
) adsorption from molecular dynamics were in agreement with the experimental findings.

Enzymatic browning and microbial growth lead to quality losses in apple products. In the present study, fresh apple juice was thermosonicated using ultrasound in-bath (25kHz, 30min, 0.06Wcm−3) and ultrasound with-probe sonicator (20kHz, 5 and 10min, 0.30Wcm−3) at 20, 40 and 60°C for inactivation of enzymes (polyphenolase, peroxidase and pectinmethylesterase) and microflora (total plate count, yeast and mold). Additionally, ascorbic acid, total phenolics, flavonoids, flavonols, pH, titratable acidity, °Brix and color values influenced by thermosonication were investigated. The highest inactivation of enzymes was obtained in ultrasound with-probe at 60°C for 10min, and the microbial population was completely inactivated at 60°C. The retention of ascorbic acid, total phenolics, flavonoids and flavonols were significantly higher in ultrasound with-probe than ultrasound in-bath at 60°C. These results indicated the usefulness of thermosonication for apple juice processing at low temperature, for enhanced inactivation of enzymes and microorganisms.
Agriculture is directly linked to human life, providing food for survival and health. It is threatened by a number of challenges, such as climate change, resource depletion, and abiotic stresses, ...including heavy metals (HMs), salinity, drought, etc. Various strategies have been employed to palliate the phytotoxic effects of these stressors from the soil–plant system. Nanotechnological approaches have emerged as a promising tool for increasing crop productivity and promoting sustainable agriculture. Interestingly, the seed nano-priming approach has shown potential against all of the above-mentioned abiotic stress factors and has improved crop productivity. The application of nanoparticles (NPs) via seed priming is an innovative and cost-effective approach that improves seed germination and subsequent plant growth by activating plant physiological processes and providing tolerance against various stresses. The seed priming with NPs induces electron exchange and increases surface reaction capabilities related to plant cell and tissue components. This review aims to provide an overview of recent advances and research findings on seed nano-priming and the possible mechanism of plant stress-tolerance augmentation against various stresses. Furthermore, we also shed light on gaps in studies conducted in previous years, which will open new avenues for future research.
