The possibility to probe new physics scenarios of light Majorana neutrino exchange and right-handed currents at the planned next generation neutrinoless double

Measurements of CP asymmetries in charmless two-body B-meson decays can provide stringent tests of the Standard Model. In multibody decays, short and long-distance dynamics along with a sizeable ...effective weak phase in the interference between tree and penguin amplitudes can lead to a rich structure of CP violation as a function of the phase space. We present here the latest studies of CP violation in charmless b-hadron decays, in particular those with baryons in the initial and final states.

We present a detailed study of the central exclusive production of the standard model Higgs boson in the WW decay channel at the LHC. We include estimates of the experimental acceptance, including ...that of the proposed proton tagging detectors at 220 m and 420 m around either ATLAS and/or CMS, and the level 1 trigger acceptances. We give first estimates of the photon-photon and glue-glue background processes in the semi-leptonic and fully leptonic decay channels. We find that there will be a detectable signal for Higgs masses between 140 GeV and 200 GeV, and that the backgrounds should be controllable.
CMS experiment will use resistive plate chambers (RPCs) as dedicated muon trigger detectors. This requires good chamber global and local performance. To verify the chamber performance intensive tests ...are going on using a telescope installed at Bari Physics Department. The chamber efficiency is obtained by track reconstruction, which offers also the possibility to perform local efficiency studies. A brief description of the test set-up, reconstruction algorithm and test results are presented in this paper.

In the double beta decay experiment NEMO 3 a precise knowledge of the background in the signal region is of outstanding importance. This article presents the methods used in NEMO 3 to evaluate the ...backgrounds resulting from most if not all possible origins. It also illustrates the power of the combined tracking-calorimetry technique used in the experiment.
The oscillation frequency, Formula: see text, of Formula: see text mesons is measured using semileptonic decays with a Formula: see text or Formula: see text meson in the final state. The data sample ...corresponds to 3.0Formula: see text of
collisions, collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies Formula: see text = 7 and 8Formula: see text. A combination of the two decay modes gives Formula: see text, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the most precise single measurement of this parameter. It is consistent with the current world average and has similar precision.
The production of the Formula: see text state in proton-proton collisions is probed via its decay to the Formula: see text final state with the LHCb detector, in the rapidity range Formula: see text ...and in the meson transverse-momentum range Formula: see text. The cross-section for prompt production of Formula: see text mesons relative to the prompt Formula: see text cross-section is measured, for the first time, to be Formula: see text at a centre-of-mass energy Formula: see text using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.7 fbFormula: see text, and Formula: see text at Formula: see text using 2.0 fbFormula: see text. The uncertainties quoted are, in order, statistical, systematic, and that on the ratio of branching fractions of the Formula: see text and Formula: see text decays to the Formula: see text final state. In addition, the inclusive branching fraction of Formula: see text-hadron decays into Formula: see text mesons is measured, for the first time, to be Formula: see text, where the third uncertainty includes also the uncertainty on the Formula: see text inclusive branching fraction from Formula: see text-hadron decays. The difference between the Formula: see text and Formula: see text meson masses is determined to be Formula: see text.
