Purpose
The aim of this study is to reveal the contribution that Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing has to scientific research and its most influential thematic work in B-to-B since its ...beginning in 1986 until 2015, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper begins with a qualitative introduction: the emergence of the magazine, its origins, editorial and positioning. Subsequently, it is based on bibliometric methodologies to develop quantitative analysis. The distribution of annual publications is analyzed, the most cited papers, the keywords that are mostly used, the influence on the publishing industry and authors, universities and the countries that have the most publications.
Findings
The predominant role of the USA at all levels is highlighted. It also highlights the presence (given its size and population) of the countries of Northern Europe. There is great interest in appreciating the evolution of the number of publications that are always increasing which demonstrates the growing and sustained interest in these types of articles, with certain times of retreat (often coincide with economic crisis).
Research limitations/implications
The Scopus database gives one unit to each author, university or country involved in the paper, without distinguishing whether it was one or more authors in the study. Therefore, this may bring some deviations in the analysis. However, the study considers some figures with fractional counting to partially solve these limitations.
Practical implications
After observing the different perspectives of the journal’s production, it allows to give an objective view of the evolution that the Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing has had in the past 30 years.
Originality/value
It is part of the trend that several journals (Journal of Marketing, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Business Research) made special sections to show progress and contribution of these journals to scientific research.
Companies need to know customer preferences for decision-making. For this reason, the companies take into account the Customer Relationship Management (CRM). These information systems have the ...objective to give support and allow the management of customer data. Nevertheless, it is possible to forget causal relationships that are not always explicit, obvious, or observables. The aim of this study on new methodologies for finding causal relationships. This research used a data analysis methodology of a CRM. The traditional analysis method is the Theory of Forgotten Effects (TFE), which is considered in this work. The new approach proposed in this article is to use Data Mining Algorithms (DMA) like Association Rules (AR) to discover causal relationships. This study analyzed 5,000 users’ comments and opinions about a Chilean foods industry company. The results show that the DMA used in this work obtains the same values as the TFE. Consequently, DMA can be used to identify non-obvious comments about products and services.
Purpose Explore the use of Gender-Fair Language (GFL) by influencers on Instagram. Design/methodology/approach The clustering methodology. A digital Bag-of-Words (BoW) Method called GFL Clustering ...BoW Methodology to identify whether an inclusive marketing (IM) strategy can be used. Thus, this research has a methodological and practical contribution to increasing the number of marketing technology tools. Findings This study is original as it proposes an inclusive digital marketing strategy and contributes with methods associated with digital transfers in order to improve marketing strategies, tactics and operations for inclusive content with a data integrity approach. Research limitations/implications Due to the limitations of the application programming interface (API) of the social network Instagram, a limited number of text data were used, which allowed for retrieving the last 12 publications of each studied profile. In addition, it should be considered that this study only includes the Spanish language and is applied to a sample of influencers from Chile. Practical implications The practical contribution of this study will lead to a key finding for the definition of communication strategies in both public and private organizations. Originality/value The originality of this work lies in its attractive implications for nonprofit and for-profit organizations, government bodies and private enterprises in the measurement of the success of campaigns with an IM communicational strategy and to incorporate inclusive and non-sexist content for their consumers so as to contribute to society.
摘要 研究目的 本研究擬探究有影響力的人士在使用即時電報 (Instagram) 時、如何使用性別中立語言。 研究設計/方法/理念 研究使用了聚類分析法;具體來說, 研究人員採用一個叫 GFL聚類詞袋法的數位詞袋分析法, 去確定研究可否使用信息管理策略。因此, 本研究在行銷科技方面、添加了一個工具, 就此而言, 本研究在學術的研究法和實務方面、均作出貢獻。 研究結果 本研究建議了一個包括一切的數位行銷策略;研究亦構建了若干與數位傳輸有關的方法, 以能利用數據完整性的理念, 為行銷策略、行銷戰術和市場營銷, 在內容的全面包含度方面取得改善。 研究的局限/啟示 因為社交網站即時電報的應用程式介面有其局限, 故使用了少量的文本數據, 這可使每個被探討的傳略的最後12個發佈能被撿回。另外需注意的是、本研究只涵蓋西班牙語, 而且, 研究使用的樣本只是來自智利有影響力的人士。 實務方面的啟示 本研究在實務方面的貢獻是、它為探討在公共機構和私營機構內使用的溝通策略的定義上、帶來重要的啟發和發現。 研究的原創性/價值 本研究的原創性在於它給營利和非營利組織、政府機關和私人企業帶來頗具吸引力的啟示。而這些啟示是與測量以包括一切的行銷溝通策略進行的專門活動是否成功有關的。另外, 涵蓋一切和無性別歧視的內容被納入供消費者使用, 以此為社會帶來裨益。
This paper investigates the influence of the adoption and use of information and communication technology (ICT) on organizational learning (OL). The focus is on knowledge, creation, as an articulated ...construct for the OL concept, and the SECI (Socialization, Externalization, Combination and Internalization) model is used as a reference for knowledge, creation. ICT use is seen here as consisting of three different orientations: informative, communicative and workflow. The results, based on a sample of around 300 Spanish small- and, medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), indicate that ICT has a significant positive influence on the, four processes for creating knowledge. ICT oriented to communication and workflow is found, to produce a significant positive impact on knowledge creation processes, except for, socialization process, while ICT use for information does not influence any of the processes for, creating knowledge and OL.

The aim of this study is to analyse the reach of existing investigation on social media and its relation to companies throughout 2014–2015. To achieve the proposed, the study proceeds in classifying ...such information and identifying methods to study social media and it’s relation with different marketing associated topics. The research uses a mapping process that uses the database generated from references of Web of Science’s publications during 2014–2015, amounting to 185 articles. The results found that the initial method is a descriptive analysis on the usage of social media as a tool for marketing. Nevertheless, during the past years studies have proposed that social media is becoming more an instrument for marketing and business management.
Purpose
The European Journal of Marketing was created in 1967. In 2017, the journal celebrates its 50th anniversary. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present a bibliometric overview of the ...leading trends of the journal during this period.
Design/methodology/approach
This work uses the Scopus database to analyse the most productive authors, institutions and countries, as well as the most cited papers and the citing articles. The investigation uses bibliometric indicators to represent the bibliographic data, including the total number of publications and citations between 1967 and 2017. Additionally, the article also develops a graphical visualization of the bibliographic material by using the visualization of similarities viewer software to map journals, keywords and institutions with bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis.
Findings
British authors and institutions are the most productive in the journal, although Australians’ are growing significantly the number of papers published. Continental European institutions are also increasing the number of publications, but they are still far from reaching the British contribution so far. In the mid-term, however, these zone’s authors and institutions, especially those from big European countries like France, Germany, Italy and Spain, should reach a closer performance to British ones; more as less long, historic, but more recent periods of analysis are considered.
Practical implications
This article is useful for any reader of this journal to understand questions such as papers’ European Journal of Marketing-related scientific productivity in terms of, for instance, contributors/authors, institutions and countries, or the main sources used to back them.
Originality/value
This is the first comprehensive article offering a general overview of the leading trends and researchers of the journal over its history.
A business model, defined as the underlying logic of a company, is not permanent over time. Instead, companies need to introduce innovations in the business model to be competitive in the market. ...This is even more critical for family firms which are continuously looking for a way to obtain sustainable growth, together with satisfactory performance. The objective of this research is to analyze the impact that business model innovation activities have in the short/long-term growth and performance of family firms. This study was obtained from panel data made up of 112 valid responses from family firms involved in business model innovation. A composite model approach has been used for data analysis. The significant components of BMI that lead to greater growth and performance are identified, the distinction between long-term and short-term effects of BMI on those outcomes is made, and BMI is proven as an authoritative source of competitive advantage and growth in family firms. Those aspects are valuable insights for researchers and managers with regards to which innovation propositions help sustain growth and performance over time.
This study sheds light on quick response (QR) code loyalty promotion in terms of gender. Based on self-construal and gender scheme theories, we posit that the level of both involvement and social ...anxiety plays a crucial role in the gender effects of loyalty formation for promoted services. A scenario-based study in Japan with 667 consumers is constructed and examines two types of services: bank and supermarket. The findings suggest that, for high involvement (bank), compared with women, males act as competitive gamers who assume greater risk and seek attractive rewards with which to beat corporations, even under high social anxiety conditions. This finding seems consistent with independent self-construal among males. However, there is no significant difference for low involvement (supermarket). The implications are discussed and limitations recognized.
Despite the importance of the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing and growing economies, little is known regarding the use of management control tools in them. In management ...control in SMEs, a holistic system needs to be modeled to enable a careful study of how each lever (belief systems, boundary systems, interactive control systems, and diagnostic control systems) affects the organizational performance of SMEs. In this article, a fuzzy logic approach is proposed for the decision-making system in management control in small and medium enterprises. C. Mamdani fuzzy inference system (MFIS) was applied as a decision-making technique to explore the influence of the use of management control tools on the organizational performance of SMEs. Perceptions data analysis is obtained through empirical research.
This research explores the moderating role of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in (Business Model (BM) innovation by comparing two groups of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) that are still ...in the process of considering adoption of ERP or already have implemented ERP. In particular, the aim is to see whether ERP enables or hampers the relationship between BM experimentation, i.e. the process of BM innovation, and BM performance. An important mediator, with a focus on downstream value delivery and creation, is the novelty of the BM in question.
This research is based on a large quantitative study among Spanish firms that are engaged in BM innovation activities and in different phases of implementing ERP. A representative sample of 208 Spanish firms engaged in Business Model Innovation from different sectors was used to collect data, which was analysed using heterotrait-monotrait (HTMT) for scaling and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) for model testing.
Quantitative findings show that there is a direct positive impact of BM experimentation on BM performance for firms that did not implement an ERP, while downstream novelty leads to improved value capture due to increased efficiency and the associated cost reduction. By contrast, firms with ERP show a better performance, depending on the degree of the downstream novelty of the BM.
There is no previous research exploring the moderating role of ERP in BM Innovation for SMEs. This is the first study to examine whether BM experimentation affects BM performance and value capturing, as mediated by BM novelty and moderated by implementation by ERP.
